The short verdict
Google Sites suits internal team sites, intranets, class pages and project hubs where co-editing and Google Drive content matter most and visitors are often colleagues. OneCraft suits a business or community group that needs a public website people find on search, with contact forms, SEO settings, stats and possibly a store.

Where Google Sites is better
Made for teams and intranets
Google Sites offers real time co-editing, sharing permissions like Docs and restricted access, which suits internal sites. OneCraft sites are public, with one owner account.
Workspace content in place
Google Sites embeds Docs, Sheets, Slides and other Workspace content that stays live. OneCraft does not embed Workspace files.
Part of a suite you may already pay for
For a team already on Google Workspace, Google Sites comes with the suite. OneCraft is a separate product with its own plans.
Where OneCraft is different
Built to be found
Every page has its own search title and description, and the published site carries canonical tags, Open Graph, a sitemap and LocalBusiness or Organization structured data.
Messages you can act on
Contact, quote and newsletter forms post to an inbox with filters, handled switches, CSV export and email and push alerts, with spam filtered by a hidden field.
A store and stats when you need them
Visit stats without cookies on every plan, and on paid plans a store with Stripe Checkout, discount codes, shipping and pickup.
Internal site or public website
Google Sites is strongest as an internal tool: a place for a team to keep information, embed documents and control who sees what. A public website has different jobs: be found on search, explain the offer, collect enquiries. OneCraft is built for those jobs.
Community groups and charities
Many clubs and charities start on Google Sites because it is free with their Workspace. When the site needs to recruit volunteers, show impact and take messages from the public, the nonprofit templates, impact sections and contact forms in OneCraft fit better, and the free plan covers one site.
Moving across
Paste your Google Sites address under Your existing pages in the generator, if the site is public, so the AI reads its content. Then add forms, an impact section and your contact details, publish, and point your domain at the new site.
Who should stay with Google Sites
Stay with Google Sites for internal team sites, class pages and project hubs where co-editing, restricted access and Drive content matter. Move when you need a public website that ranks, collects enquiries and maybe sells.
Questions people ask
Is Google Sites good for a business website?
It can host a simple public page, but it is built for team and project sites, with few tools for search settings, enquiries or selling. For a business that wants to be found and contacted, a website builder with SEO settings, forms and stats is a better fit.
Is OneCraft free like Google Sites?
The OneCraft free plan includes one published site at a onecraft.live address with a small badge and 150 credits a month. Google Sites comes with Google accounts and Workspace plans. A custom domain, the store and more sites need a paid OneCraft plan.
Can several people edit a OneCraft site?
A site belongs to one owner account, so there is no real time co-editing. Groups usually create the account with a shared organisation email kept in a password manager. If many people must edit at once, Google Sites handles that better.
Can OneCraft show Google Docs or Sheets?
Not as live embeds. You can link to a shared document from a button, or move the content into sections. Videos from YouTube and maps from Google Maps embed directly, and longer forms can be embedded from OneCraft Forms, with responses collected in that form builder.
Will my site rank better on OneCraft?
The technical basics are in place on publish: per page titles and descriptions, canonical tags, a sitemap and structured data. Ranking still depends on content and reputation. A site that explains clearly what you do and where usually does better than one built as an internal page.
