A Squarespace alternative where the AI writes the first draft
Squarespace is known for polished templates and an all in one platform: website, commerce, memberships, invoicing, email and scheduling, with AI tools for content. OneCraft Sites writes the whole site from your description into sections you edit in panels, with a store, leads inbox and stats, and a Code mode for custom builds.
Updated , competitor details checked . Squarespace is a trademark of its owner. OneCraft is an unrelated product and claims no affiliation with or endorsement by it.

The short verdict
Squarespace suits creatives and service businesses who want a refined template, memberships or courses, invoicing and email in one subscription, and who enjoy adjusting the design themselves. OneCraft suits someone who wants the AI to write a complete site from a brief, with a store that pays into their own Stripe account and a code route for later.

Where Squarespace is better
Memberships, courses and invoicing
Squarespace sells content and memberships, runs courses and sends invoices from the same account. OneCraft Sites has no members area or course player, and invoices belong to a different OneCraft module, so a coach selling a membership will find Squarespace more complete.
Design polish you control
Squarespace templates are designed for fine adjustment, and its plans allow custom CSS and code blocks. OneCraft sections are tested layouts with theme settings, which keeps sites consistent but limits hand tuning outside Code mode.
Point of sale and email in one place
Squarespace offers a point of sale in the US and UK and email campaigns alongside the site. OneCraft has neither, so a shop that sells at markets and online would need extra tools.
Where OneCraft is different
The AI writes the whole site
Describe the business in up to 2,000 characters, optionally with three existing web addresses, and the generator plans pages, picks sections, writes copy, chooses a palette and fills images. You edit a finished draft instead of filling a template with your own words.
Your own Stripe account, server priced carts
Store payments are Stripe Checkout on your connected account, with stock held for 35 minutes during checkout and prices, discounts, shipping and tax worked out on the server. Payouts and refunds stay in your Stripe dashboard.
A path into real code
Code mode writes a React Router, Tailwind and shadcn/ui project for the site with git history, live preview, data collections and a zip download, which suits a site that later needs custom interactions.
Template first or brief first
Squarespace starts from a designer template that you fill and adjust, and its AI helps with content. OneCraft starts from your description and builds the site around it, using templates only if you pick one. Template first gives a strong look quickly if one fits your business; brief first gives a site whose sections match what you actually offer.
What a move involves
There is no importer. Paste your Squarespace address into the generator under Your existing pages so the AI reads your services, hours and details, then edit the draft. Export products to CSV where you can and import them into the store. Keep the old site live until the new one is published and your domain points at it.
Transaction fees and plan costs
Squarespace lists its plans and per transaction fees on its pricing page. OneCraft charges a platform fee per store payment of 2 percent on Starter, 1 percent on Pro and 0.5 percent on Pro+, with Stripe fees on top, and plans of $8, $25 and $125 a month. Compare using your own monthly sales.
Who should stay with Squarespace
Stay with Squarespace if memberships, courses, invoicing, email campaigns or its point of sale run part of your business, or if you enjoy refining a designer template by hand. Move if you want an AI written site with a store and an inbox and less design work.
Questions people ask
Is OneCraft cheaper than Squarespace?
It depends on what you use. OneCraft plans are $0, $8, $25 and $125 a month with credits, and you bring your own domain. Squarespace prices, which include a first year domain on annual plans, are on its pricing page. For a store, add each platform transaction or platform fee to the comparison.
Can OneCraft templates look as good as Squarespace?
The 30 Sections templates are designed and checked at three widths, with curated palettes and font pairs. Squarespace has a larger catalogue with more distinctive designs. For a portfolio led by photography, both can look excellent; the difference is how much you hand tune afterwards.
Does OneCraft support members only pages?
No. Pages are public or hidden from search engines, and there are no visitor logins, memberships or paywalled content. Sell digital downloads through the store on a paid plan, or keep a membership platform you already use and link to it from the menu and from buttons on the site.
Can I move my Squarespace store?
Products can come across from a CSV export; the import reads common layouts, groups variants by handle and shows a dry run before saving. Images are not copied, so upload photos afterwards. Orders and customers stay in your old account for your records.
Which is better for a photographer?
Both suit photographers. OneCraft has an uncropped masonry gallery, a lightbox, a dark photographer template and enquiry forms into an inbox. Squarespace has more template variety and can sell memberships or courses alongside the portfolio. Choose by how you sell: packages and enquiries, or prints and memberships.
