Link in bio pages

Link in bio for authors with the new book first

An author's bio link is busiest the week a book comes out, and the reader wants to buy it from their own bookshop. This example for an invented Tasmanian crime writer leads with the new book, then the series in order, a free first chapter, events, the newsletter and a rights contact.

Layout

The link page section in its cards with thumbnails layout on Deep sea in light mode with Cormorant Garamond for the name, which gives a bookish look. Four links have photos and two, the newsletter and the agent, have icons.

After launch week

Once the release is past, move events up the page during festival season and keep the newsletter link high; a mailing list is the one audience an author owns. Swap the book photo for the cover image once you have the rights to use it.

What makes this website work

The new book is the first card

Buy The Low Tide Room is the first link, with a photo of a hardcover. In the weeks around a release, that is what almost every visitor is looking for.

The series in order

Readers who discover book three want to start at book one. A link to the series in order turns a single sale into three, and it is the most asked question authors get.

A free first chapter

A free chapter link gives undecided readers a way to try the writing. It sits third, after the two buying links, so it never gets in the way of a sale.

Questions people ask

What should an author put in their link in bio?

The newest book first, the series in reading order, a sample, events, a newsletter sign up and a rights or media contact. This example has those six, with the buying link at the top during release season and the events link moving up at festival time.

Can I link to several bookshops?

Each link goes to one address, so link the first card to a page on your own site that lists bookshops, as this example does, or add a button per bookshop. A short list of three or four shops is easier than a long one.

Can I use my book cover as the picture?

Yes. Upload the cover in the image picker for that link. Check your publisher's rules for using cover artwork; most allow it for promotion of the book. Until then, a photo of the book on a table, as here, works well.

Can readers sign up to my newsletter on the page?

A link page holds links only, so the newsletter link here opens a sign up page. A full OneCraft website has a newsletter section that collects emails into your inbox for export, if you would rather keep the list in one place.

Can I put my link page on my own domain?

Yes. Publish first to a free onecraft.live address, then add your domain in Settings and follow the TXT and CNAME steps. Custom domains are available on paid plans, starting at one domain on Starter, and a certificate is issued for you once the records check out.
