Sign a performer contract online
Signing a performer contract online should fix the set times, the fee and where it is paid before the band loads in, without the venue and the band waiting on each other. This three page booking for a four piece soul band at a Fremantle hotel has the band's leader type the bank account name and sign, and the venue's booker sign a company block, both invited at the same moment.

Performer Contract
This contract is made on Friday 2 October 2026 between Bollardine Hotel Pty Ltd, ABN 63 615 902 447, which operates the Bollardine Hotel (the Venue), and Josie Marchbank, who signs for herself and the other three members of the band The Velvet Fourpence (the Performer), for a live performance in the Venue's front bar.

3. Fee and payment
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Performance fee, both sets | $1,800.00 |
| GST, only if the Performer's invoice shows an ABN registered for GST | $180.00 |
The fee is paid by bank transfer within 5 business days after the performance, on the Performer's invoice. So the payment reaches the right account, the Performer types the name on the bank account below, exactly as the bank holds it. The account number and BSB are given on the invoice, never in this contract.
The Performer is an independent contractor, not an employee of the Venue, and is responsible for paying the band members and for its own tax and superannuation.
4. Rider
| Item | Provided by the Venue |
|---|---|
| Front of house | House PA, 16 channel mixer and an engineer from sound check to the end of the second set |
| Backline | Drum kit shell pack and bass amplifier. The band brings cymbals, snare, guitars and keyboards |
| Stage | Four monitor wedges, four vocal microphones, two DI boxes, stage power |
| Hospitality | A meal for each of the four band members from the bistro menu, and water on stage |
| Drinks | Two drinks each from the house range. Further drinks at the staff price |
| Parking | One loading bay on Mews Road from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm and from 11.15 pm |
| Green room | The function room upstairs, lockable, from load in to load out |
5. Volume and conduct
The Venue's liquor licence includes noise conditions. The house engineer sets the maximum front of house level, and the Performer follows the duty manager's directions on volume. The Performer and its crew follow the Venue's house rules and the responsible service of alcohol directions of staff, and do not drink to intoxication before or during the performance.
6. Cancellation
| If | Then |
|---|---|
| The Venue cancels more than 28 days before | No fee is payable |
| The Venue cancels 28 days or fewer before | Half the fee is payable |
| The Venue cancels 7 days or fewer before | The full fee is payable |
| The Performer cancels | No fee is payable. The Performer helps find a replacement act and gives as much notice as possible |
| The Venue is closed by a government direction, a power failure or a similar event outside both parties' control | No fee is payable, and the parties try to agree a new date |
7. Recordings and promotion
The Venue may promote the performance using the band's name, photo and short biography supplied by the Performer, and may post short phone clips of the performance to its social media. The Venue does not make or sell a full recording. The Performer keeps every right in its music and performance.
8. Equipment and safety
The Performer's electrical equipment is tested and tagged within the last 12 months. Each party is responsible for its own equipment. The Venue holds public liability insurance for the premises. The Performer is encouraged to insure its own instruments and equipment.
9. Music licensing
The Venue holds the music licence for live performance in its premises. The Performer gives the Venue a set list after the performance, so the Venue can report the songs performed as its licence requires.
10. General
This contract and the rider are the whole agreement. A change is agreed in writing. It is governed by the law of Western Australia. Each party may sign an electronic copy at a time that suits it; there is no set order.

The signing journey
Step 1
Four fields, no queue
A bank account name, a signature and a date for the band, and a four line block for the venue.
Step 2
Both invited at once
Sign in order is off. When Send is pressed both invitations go out together, and the certificate's event log shows two invitations within seconds.
Step 3
The account name, not the number
Josie types the name the bank holds. The BSB and account number go on her invoice, as clause 3 says, never into the contract.
Step 4
Complete when the second signs
Each signature is stamped as it lands. After the second, the contract is certified and emailed to both.
Every field, and who fills it
Josie Marchbank types the bank account name on the ruled line under the fee table on page 1, then signs page 3 with a stamped date. Declan Ostrowski's block beside her prints FOR BOLLARDINE HOTEL PTY LTD with his name, the Title and Company he types, and the date. The Friday 27 November 2026 date, the set times from 5.30 pm load in to midnight, the $1,800.00 fee, the rider and the cancellation scale are printed.
How to adapt this envelope
A band whose members each want to sign adds them as signers, each with a signature. A venue that wants a deposit paid before the booking is confirmed switches Sign in order on and puts the band first. A festival booking with several acts sends one contract per act, each with its own set times.
What makes this valid in Australia
The Electronic Transactions Act 1999 and the Western Australian equivalent accept an electronic signature that identifies the signer and shows intention by a reliable method. GST applies to the fee only if the band's ABN is registered for GST, and the band keeps every right in its own music, as clause 7 says.
What makes this signing flow work
Set times in a table, not a sentence
Load in, sound check, two sets and pack down each have a start, an end and a length. When a set starts late, clause 2 says whose fault decides how long it runs, and the signed table is what both sides check on the night.
Account name typed by the band
A fee paid to the wrong account is a common booking dispute. The band leader types the account name herself, so the venue's accounts team has the name to match against the invoice, without the contract carrying an account number anyone could copy.
Parallel signing for a two sided booking
Neither signature depends on the other, so the order is off. Both invitations went out together and the contract completed as soon as the second person signed, instead of the band waiting for the venue's booker to get to it first.
Questions people ask
Can a band sign a performer contract online for all its members?
One member can sign for the band if the others have authorised it, which is what Josie does here. If the venue wants each member bound personally, each is added as a signer with their own signature, and the certificate lists all of them.
Can the band leader sign from the road?
Yes. The link works in any phone browser with no account. On a narrow screen the account name field moves into a panel above the document, then she signs once. The venue's booker can sign at any time, because the order is off.
How long does a booking contract stay open for signing?
Thirty days from when the envelope was created, and the app does not let the venue change that. For a gig on Friday 27 November 2026, a contract sent early in October leaves plenty of time, and the venue can resend an invitation if needed.
What if the band declines the contract?
The envelope moves to declined and the venue is emailed with the band's reason. Nothing more is stamped, even if the booker had already signed, and no certified copy is produced. The venue can negotiate, withdraw the envelope and send a revised contract.
Why put the bank account name in the contract at all?
So the venue knows whose name the payment should go to before the invoice arrives. If the invoice later names a different account holder, the accounts team can query it with the band before paying, which is a simple check against a redirected payment.
What happens if the venue cancels a week before?
Clause 6 says a cancellation 7 days or fewer before the gig makes the full fee payable, between 8 and 28 days half the fee, and earlier nothing. A closure outside both parties' control, such as a power failure, makes no fee payable.

Make one like thisOther signing examples
Sign a catering contract online
Signing a catering contract online should lock the menu, the price per head and the date final numbers are due, because those three decide the invoice. This four page contract for a Sydney architecture firm's end of year lunch has the office manager type the estimated guest count, initial the menu, and sign, then the caterer signs, before the deposit falls due.
Sign a location release online
Signing a location release online has to show that the person granting filming owns the property, which parts of it the crew may use, and how it will be put back. This two page release for three days of filming at a farmhouse near Ballarat has the owner type the areas she wants excluded, sign with her name and date, and the producer sign a four line company block, all before the first filming day.
Sign a sponsorship agreement online
Signing a sponsorship agreement online is about pinning down the benefits, because that table is what the sponsor will check the festival against months later. This five page major partner agreement for a Victorian twilight festival has the sponsor's marketing director initial the eight row benefits table behind an emailed code and sign a four line block, then the festival director signs.
