Gym video maker

The classic fitness video mistake is booking the shoot for five in the morning so the floor is clear. What you get is an immaculate empty room, which is the precise opposite of what somebody is buying. People join a gym for the other people, the full class and the noise.

A video frame headed Your first week at Ironhaus with four ticked lines: coached technique session, 24 hour access from day one, class board a week ahead, no joining fee this month.
The beat that replaces a before and after in a fictional gym's video. A first week list makes no transformation claim, so there is nothing to substantiate.

Show it busy, and show a full rep

Open on a high energy moment already in motion, a lift, a class rep, a rope slam. Then walk the facility as a continuous sequence: entrance, cardio floor, free weights, studio, and then the practical things nobody films, changing rooms, showers, the creche, the parking. Then a class in action with real members at real intensity, and give at least one movement a full unbroken rep, because a half rep cut on the beat reads as stock footage rather than as your gym.

The trainer is the trust beat

Eight to twelve seconds of a coach saying who this gym is for and what a first session looks like does more than any facility shot. It answers the actual fear, which is not whether the equipment is good but whether a beginner will look stupid. In this tool that beat is a quote or a testimonial scene carrying their words with their name, since there is no filmed talking head.

Before and after is the sharpest edge in this category

Under the endorsement rules, a transformation claim implies the endorser's experience is what customers generally get. If it is not, you must disclose the generally expected performance and hold competent, reliable scientific evidence. Crucially the 2023 revision removed the strong disclaimer defence, so results not typical no longer rescues it, and a mean skewed by outliers is itself misleading where a median would not be. The safe substitute is a your first week beat, which carries no substantiation burden at all.

Two audio traps

The music playing in your studio is covered by a venue performance licence, which does not grant synchronisation rights for video. A well known case over on demand fitness content sought damages across more than a thousand songs and forced a large library to be pulled. So kill the room audio and lay a cleared track. Second, if you put a monthly price on screen, auto renewal law in several markets requires the renewal terms to be presented with it, and cancellation practices are under active enforcement.

How it works, in three steps

  1. Step 1

    Shoot at a busy hour

Photographs at peak, with members in them and consent obtained. An empty room is the single most common self inflicted problem in this category.

  2. Step 2

    Include the unglamorous shots

Changing rooms, showers, parking, creche. They answer the questions that decide a membership more often than the squat rack does.

  3. Step 3

    Replace the transformation beat

Use a first week scene, a checklist of what is included, or a named member quote rather than a before and after you cannot substantiate.

Limits worth knowing

Questions people ask

How long should a gym video be?

Thirty to sixty seconds for the main tour, fifteen to thirty for paid and social, and sixty to ninety only on your own website. A business map listing caps video at thirty seconds, and that listing is what local searchers see.

Can I use a member's transformation photos?

With their written permission, and only alongside a disclosure of what results are typical plus evidence supporting it. It is the most scrutinised claim in fitness advertising, so most operators are better off not making it.

What about class music in the background?

Do not use the room audio. A venue performance licence covers playing music in your facility, not synchronising it to a video. Use a cleared track and mute any uploaded clip.

Should the video show the price?

Only if you also show the renewal terms. Several jurisdictions now require express consent to an automatic renewal term and equally easy cancellation, and a price on screen with none of that attached is the exposure.
