Sign a payment plan agreement online
A payment plan is only useful if both sides agree what releases each payment, not just what each one is worth. This five page schedule for Tidewater Dental's $184,800 Suite 4 fit out ties six milestones to the evidence each claim needs, and both parties sign it on page 5: the client first, then Halcyon Interiors' accounts manager.
The document itself is written out in full on its own page: read the wording there. This page is only about signing it.
Who signs what
- Dr Priyanka Raghavan, for Tidewater Dental Pty Ltd, the client, first
- Signature in the Signed for Tidewater Dental block on page 5 · Name, filled from her recipient row · Position, typed · Date, stamped at submission · Email link, no code
- Bede Halloran, accounts manager, for Halcyon Interiors Pty Ltd, second
- Signature in the Signed for Halcyon Interiors block on page 5 · Name, filled from his recipient row · Position, typed · Date, stamped at submission
The signing journey
Step 1
Eight fields, all on page 5
The schedule prints two blocks at the end of page 5, Signed for Halcyon Interiors Pty Ltd and Signed for Tidewater Dental Pty Ltd, each with Name, Position and Date lines. Each signer gets a signature, a name field, a text field on the Position line and a date. Pages 1 to 4 carry no fields.
Step 2
Sign in order goes on
The client is invited alone, and the accounts manager has no link until the client's signature is stamped into the file, even though the Halcyon block is printed first.
Step 3
The client reads the whole schedule
The portal opens at page 1, so Dr Raghavan passes the milestone table, the six evidence items, the GST table, the late payment terms and the claiming steps before she reaches the signature lines.
Step 4
One drawing, one date
The client draws once, types her position, and the date beside her signature stamps itself. The name arrives already filled in from her recipient row.
Step 5
The countersignature makes the deposit claimable
The certified schedule is emailed to both. The schedule itself says the deposit is claimable once both parties have signed and site access is given in writing, so the second signature is what starts the claims.
Every field, and who fills it
Eight fields, all on page 5. The Tidewater block and the Halcyon block each take a signature on the signature line, a name field on the Name line filled from the recipient row, a text field on the Position line typed by the signer, and a date field on the Date line stamped at submission. Everything else is already written across the five pages: the $184,800 contract sum including GST, the six milestones with their shares, target dates and running balance, the evidence each claim needs, the GST table, the variations rule, the seven day terms with interest at ten per cent a year, and who may certify for the owner.
How to adapt this envelope
A plan for an overdue account rather than a fit out keeps the same shape: a schedule, the terms and two signatures, with the instalments falling on dates because there are no milestones to hang them on. A client whose board approves above a threshold adds a second recipient ahead of the builder. Where the parties want a separate mark against the evidence section, add a checkbox field beside it; the signer types into it and the stamper prints an X. And where a variation adds scope, that is a separate signed variation order rather than an edit, because a sent envelope is locked.
What makes this valid in Australia
The Electronic Transactions Act 1999 allows a signature to be given electronically where the method identifies the person, shows their intention and is as reliable as the circumstances require, and a payment schedule agreed between two businesses sits comfortably inside that. State security of payment legislation separately governs progress claims, payment schedules and adjudication for construction work, and it is not displaced by an agreement between the parties, so the timetable in that legislation still matters. The certificate carries the evidence side: two IP addresses, two consent timestamps and the document hash at each signing.
What makes this signing flow work
The signature is against the evidence, not only the amounts
Anyone will sign a table of six numbers. This schedule puts a section on what releases each payment between the table and the signatures: a signed drawing register, supplier invoices with a delivery docket, rough in certificates, dated photographs and the handover pack. Signing on page 5 means signing after all of it.
Nothing falls due on a date alone
The schedule says the target date is a target and the milestone is the trigger, and it says so in its opening paragraph before the table. That is the clause that stops a claim arriving because a calendar moved rather than because a trade finished.
The client signs first
With the order switch on, the builder countersigns a schedule the client has already signed, and the deposit only becomes claimable after the second signature. There is no window in which a milestone is claimable against a schedule only one side has agreed.
Questions people ask
Is a payment plan valid when it is signed electronically in Australia?
Electronic signing is accepted under the Electronic Transactions Act 1999 where the method identifies the signer and shows intention. For construction work, state security of payment legislation still governs progress claims and adjudication, and an agreement between the parties does not displace those timetables. The schedule also says the building contract dated 24 August 2026 governs where the two disagree.
Who can sign for the dental practice?
Whoever the practice authorises, and the schedule names two people who may certify milestones for the owner: Dr Priyanka Raghavan or Dr Simon Teale, either one alone. Here Dr Raghavan is the recipient, so her name fills the Name line and she types her position. If both owners should sign, add Dr Teale as another recipient with his own fields beside the Tidewater block.
Can the builder sign first?
Not in this envelope. Sign in order is on, so only the lowest outstanding order is invited and the server refuses a signing request out of turn. The accounts manager's link does not exist until the client's signature is stamped into the working copy, even though the Halcyon block sits above the Tidewater block on page 5.
When does the deposit become claimable?
Not on the 1 September target date by itself. The schedule's first release item says the deposit is claimable once both parties have signed and the owner has given written access to the suite, and nothing is ordered or booked before it clears. So the builder's countersignature, which completes the envelope, is one of the two triggers, and the access letter is the other.
What happens if the client declines?
The envelope moves to declined, the accounts manager is never invited, and the sender is emailed with the reason typed into the decline box. No claim is issued under the plan. A revised schedule goes out as a fresh envelope with its own certificate.
Can an instalment be changed after the plan is signed?
Not by editing the envelope, which is locked once sent. The plan handles a slipped date in its own clause, moving the target dates without moving the shares, and handles added scope through a signed variation order rather than through a change to the six instalments.

Sign a promissory note online
A promissory note is a one sided promise, so only the maker signs it. This four page note, WB-2026-03 for $45,000 at seven per cent, is signed for Wren and Boyle Timber Co by its director Harriet Boyle behind a six digit code, then by the witness the note asks for, who types their own address. The holder, Cassia Holdings, receives the certified copy but signs nothing.
Sign a debt settlement agreement online
A debt settlement agreement has to fix three numbers and one date beyond argument: what was owed, what will be accepted, and when it must arrive. This two page compromise settles a $9,400 joinery account for $6,500 paid by 30 October 2026, with the debtor initialling the terms behind an emailed code before the creditor's director countersigns.
Sign a convertible note online
A convertible note has to record the principal the investor actually committed and that both companies executed it in the right capacity. In this six page note for a robotics startup, the investor types the $150,000 investment amount on page 1 and signs a company block behind an emailed code, and the founder signs for the company after.
