One page vs multi page website
A one page website puts all content on a single scrolling page, which suits one offer and one action. A multi page website gives each topic its own page and address, which suits several services or audiences and lets each page rank for its own search. Most small businesses with more than one service do better with several pages.
The choice is less about design than about how many different questions visitors arrive with. One question suits one page; several questions suit several pages.

| Factor | One page | Multi page |
|---|---|---|
| Search | One title and description, competes for one topic | Each page can target its own search |
| Navigation | Scroll and anchor links | Menu of pages, deep links to each topic |
| Best for | One offer, launch, event, profile | Several services, audiences or products |
| Upkeep | One page to keep current | More pages to keep accurate |
| Phone reading | Natural scrolling, can get long | Shorter pages, more taps |
| Growth | Add pages later when topics split | Already structured for new pages |
The core difference
A one page site answers one question well: what is this and how do I get it. A multi page site answers many: what do you charge for switchboards, do you install EV chargers, are you licensed. Each extra page is an extra place to answer a specific question in words people actually search.
What it means for search
Search engines rank pages, not sites. A one page site has one title, one description and one main topic. A page per service can carry that service in its title, heading and copy, which is how a local electrician shows up for EV charger installation in their city rather than only for their business name.
What it means for visitors
Visitors who arrive from a search for one service want that service immediately. Landing on a dedicated page saves them scrolling past things they did not ask about. On the other hand, a visitor from a social post who knows nothing about you may prefer one page that tells the whole story in order.
Common mistakes
Splitting a small offer into many thin pages with a paragraph each, which helps nobody. Or the opposite: forcing five services, a team, a gallery and a long FAQ onto one page until it takes twenty screens on a phone. Split by visitor question, not by habit.
Where it shows up in OneCraft
The generator builds a single page for Landing page and Link page kinds and several pages for most others, usually home, services and the legal pages. In the builder, Add page creates a page with its own address, search title and description, and renaming a page updates every link that pointed to it.
Questions people ask
Is a one page website bad for SEO?
Not bad, but limited to one topic. It can rank well for a clear single search such as a business name or one service in one place. It cannot rank separately for several services, because there is only one page with one title for search engines to match.
How many pages should a small business website have?
Usually five to eight: home, a page per main service, about, contact and the privacy and terms pages. Add more only when each new page answers a question people search for. Ten useful pages beat thirty pages that repeat each other with the suburb name changed.
Do multi page sites convert worse?
Not if each page has a clear action. A service page that ends in a quote request form converts as well as a one page site, and it reaches people searching for that service. Conversions fall when pages lead visitors around without a next step.
Can I mix both approaches?
Yes, and many small sites do: a long home page that summarises everything with sections, plus separate pages for the main services that the home page links to. Visitors who want the overview scroll; visitors from a search land directly on the page they need.
Which is quicker to build?
A one page site, because there is less to write and check. The gap narrows with an AI builder that drafts every page, but each extra page still needs reading, correct prices and real photos before you publish, so plan the time for checking as well as for building.
