What is a one page website?

A one page website is a site whose content all sits on a single scrolling page, divided into sections such as an introduction, services, proof and contact, with menu links that jump to each section instead of loading new pages. It suits small offers, launches and events with one main action.

A one page website trades breadth for focus: visitors scroll instead of clicking, and the page tells one story from top to bottom. It is a common first site for a sole trader, an event or a product launch.

How a one page site is organised

The page is a stack of sections in reading order: a hero that says what you do and for whom, the offer, the proof, the details a buyer needs, a short FAQ and a contact or sign-up section. The menu lists the section names, and each link scrolls to an anchor on the same page, so the site still feels navigable.

When it works well

One page sites suit a single offer with a single action: a mobile detailer taking quote requests, a wedding with an RSVP, a product launch with a waitlist, a musician with one new release. They load once, read well on phones and are quick to maintain, because there is only one page to keep current.

Where it falls short

A single page has one title and one description for search engines, so it competes for one idea. A business with several distinct services, each searched separately, does better with a page per service. Long one page sites also get hard to scan on a phone once they pass ten or so sections.

Common mistakes

Putting everything on the page instead of choosing, hiding the main button below several screens of story, using a menu with too many anchor links to fit on a phone, and forgetting a privacy page when the form collects details. A sticky button pinned to the bottom of phone screens fixes the commonest of these.

Where it shows up in OneCraft

Choosing Landing page or Link page as the kind in the generator produces a single page; other kinds can be trimmed to one. Menu links and buttons can point to sections on the same page, and the call to action library includes a layout that keeps one button pinned to the bottom of phone screens. Privacy and terms pages are added for every kind except link pages.

Questions people ask

Is a one page website cheaper to build?

Usually, because there is less content to write and fewer pages to design and check. With an AI builder the difference in effort is smaller, since the tool writes and lays out pages either way, but a single page is still quicker to review, keep accurate and translate.

How long should a one page website be?

Long enough to answer the questions a buyer has before taking the action, which for most small offers means six to nine sections. If you keep adding sections for different audiences or services, the content probably wants separate pages rather than a longer scroll.

Can a one page website have a blog?

Not really, since a blog needs separate pages for posts. A one page site can carry a short news section with the latest updates as cards, but ongoing articles that you want found on search need their own pages with their own titles.

Do one page websites work on mobile?

They often work better on phones than multi page sites, because scrolling is natural and nothing needs to load between sections. Keep each section short, use large buttons, and pin the main action to the bottom of the screen so it is always one tap away.

Is a link in bio page a one page website?

Yes, a specialised one. A link page is a single page of large buttons meant for a social profile, usually without a menu bar or long sections. A one page website is broader: it describes an offer fully, with proof, details and a contact form.

Can I turn a one page site into a multi page site later?

Yes. Add pages for the topics that deserve their own address, move the matching sections onto them and keep a short version on the home page that links through. Your existing address stays the same, so links already shared keep working.
