Easter promotion flyer
Easter is four separate trading days, not one, and two of them are public holidays in most of the country. Marchetti is a small chocolate shop in Fremantle, which under Western Australian rules means it can open on Good Friday when the department stores cannot. These three flyers each lead with a different part of that: the chocolate, the box, and the order deadline.
The 3 designs
The same business laid out three ways, on three templates and three colour themes. Every price, name and time on these was written for this example, so you can judge the layouts on real content rather than placeholder text.

What makes these work
The lookbook sells the chocolate, not the offer
Two photographs, a serif masthead and one line about a salted caramel that sells out by Thursday. There is no percentage anywhere on it, because a chocolatier competing on price against a supermarket egg has already lost the argument.
The hamper sheet lists all eight pieces
Milk egg 180 grams, dark 66 per cent 180 grams, salted caramel bar, praline bar, six rochers, four truffles, hot chocolate flakes, a card. Eight lines is what turns $78 from a number into a decision, and it leaves room for the allergen panel underneath.
The rules sheet carries the dates nobody remembers
Orders close 19 March, collection opens 24 March and ends at three on Easter Sunday, and nothing is charged until pickup. Those three facts cause every argument a chocolate shop has at Easter, so they get a design to themselves.
Questions people ask
Which Easter days are public holidays in Australia?
Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays in all eight states and territories. Easter Saturday is a holiday everywhere except Western Australia and Tasmania, and Easter Sunday everywhere except Tasmania. That is why the hours block on these flyers names all four days rather than saying open as usual.
Can a small shop trade on Good Friday?
In Western Australia general retail shops must stay closed on Good Friday, Christmas Day and Anzac Day, but small retail shops may trade any day of the year and special retail shops may trade from 6am to 11.30pm. Other states run their own restricted day lists, so a shop outside WA has to check its own rules before printing the hours.
How should allergens appear on a food flyer?
For packaged food the required allergen names have to appear in bold in the ingredient list and again in a bolded statement beginning with Contains, in the same field of view. For food made to order or sold unpackaged the declaration has to be displayed with the food or given on request using those same required names. A may contain line is voluntary and is not part of the standard.
What belongs on a hamper flyer besides the price?
Contents by weight, the order and collection dates, the allergen statement and a storage line. Chocolate is temperature sensitive, so keep below 18 degrees earns its place on the page. A substitution note is worth adding if a piece might change, since the flyer photograph is a representation of what the customer will get.

Grand opening flyer
One new hardware shop, Rowan & Sons on Mercer Street, and three flyers for three jobs. The date poster goes in the window weeks out and says Saturday 6 September, from 8am, with free coffee, ten percent off all weekend and a bench where the staff sharpen your tools. The offer sheet sits by the till and prices one product, the 5 litre cast iron pot at $119, usually $149, for the opening weekend only. The photo invitation goes to the mailing list and the neighbours, with coffee from eight and the ribbon at nine.
Gift card promo flyer
Quillon & Co. sells gift cards from $20 to $500 and has decided the most persuasive thing about them is the law. A card sold in Australia has to last at least three years and cannot be eaten by fees, so all three flyers put that where the discount usually goes: one as a headline over a photograph, one as an editorial page about three ways to give, and one as a numbered rules sheet with the statistics on top.
Beauty product flyer
Lume & Larkin takes twenty per cent off every product on the shelf for six days in June, which is a simple offer and a short one. The poster does nothing except say so. The second flyer turns the same discount into three packs built around skin type, with the normal totals printed beside the sale prices. The third is a guide to reading the back of a bottle, because a skincare shop that can explain an ingredient list is answering the question most customers walked in holding.
