Winter sale flyer
Kestrel Ridge Outfitters sells insulation to a town that sits at 435 metres, and its stocktake runs four days over the Kings Birthday long weekend. One flyer splits the shop into four categories with a discount against each. One works as a checklist of what a June kit actually contains. The third exists because the holiday falls on a different date in almost every state and the shop would rather print the Victorian one than assume.
The 3 designs
The same business laid out three ways, on three templates and three colour themes. Every price, name and time on these was written for this example, so you can judge the layouts on real content rather than placeholder text.

What makes these work
Four categories, four numbers, no averaging
Jackets thirty, boots twenty five, layers twenty, camp sleeping up to forty. Splitting them apart means the poster never has to hide behind a single headline percentage, and each card has room for the one technical fact that justifies the price, such as fill power or the tested comfort rating rather than the extreme figure printed on the box.
The checklist sheet is written for the climate, not the season
It names the altitude, the months and the four things that leave the shop most in winter. A shopper in Ballarat reading a paragraph about the central highlands is being told the shop knows where it is, which no amount of stock photography achieves.
The third flyer treats the public holiday as content
It states the Victorian date, notes that Western Australia and Queensland keep theirs in September and October, and lists the three days Victoria actually restricts trading. That turns a line of small print into the most shared thing on the page.
Questions people ask
When is the Kings Birthday holiday in each state?
It moves. The Fair Work list names the sovereign’s birthday as a national public holiday on the day it is celebrated in each state or territory, so in 2026 Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory take it on Monday 8 June, Western Australia on Monday 28 September and Queensland on Monday 5 October. A flyer that says long weekend without a date is useless outside one state.
Which days does Victoria restrict retail trading?
Three. All day on Good Friday and Christmas Day, and until 1pm on Anzac Day. Easter Sunday has not been a restricted trading day in Victoria since 2011. Exempt shops such as chemists, service stations and eating houses can trade on the restricted days, as can shops under the staffing size test in the Shop Trading Reform Act.
Do consumer guarantees still apply to sale stock?
Yes, in full. A discounted jacket sold as waterproof still has to be waterproof, and a fault means a repair, a replacement or a refund depending on how serious it is. A sale sign does not shorten the guarantee period, and a shop cannot sign it away with a no refunds on sale items notice.
Should a sale flyer promise a raincheck?
Only if the shop will honour one. Advertising a sale price on stock that is available in very limited quantities is misleading unless the shop is upfront that supply is short or the offer is time limited. Saying twelve jackets exist and there is no restock is both accurate and far more urgent than a raincheck nobody intends to write.

Black Friday flyer
Black Friday 2026 lands on Friday 27 November, and Cairn & Creek is running it as a four day event closing on Monday 30 November. The discount is the easy part. The hard part is fitting the opening hour, the online code, the quantity on the deepest tier and the things left out onto one page without burying any of them. These three designs each answer that differently.
Clearance sale flyer
A clearance is not a sale with a bigger number on it. Sprocket & Pine has 31 bikes left from the 2025 range, most of them one or two per size, and nothing is being reordered. These three flyers all say that, but each one answers a different question: what is left, what each model now costs, and which bikes suit which rider.
Garage sale flyer
Six households on one Bendigo street open their driveways on the same Saturday morning, which is the only reason a driver turns off the main road at all. The three flyers here do the three jobs that morning needs. A poster says how many sales there are and what is in them. A rules sheet sets out what six neighbours agreed on so every driveway runs the same way. A house by house list names who is selling what, and says plainly what a private sale is and is not.
