Poster examples
Research posters, block by block
Every poster here is a whole A0 board, read the way a conference reader reads one: the finding first, then the abstract, the method as a labelled protocol, the figures with their captions, and the references. The studies are invented, the structure is how the field actually writes them.

Meta analysis poster example
A meta analysis poster carries a pooled estimate, so it has to show the trials that built it and how much they disagree. This A0 portrait example pools 18 randomised trials of structured exercise in 2,140 adults with depressive symptoms: standardised mean difference minus 0.42, 95% CI minus 0.54 to minus 0.30, I squared 46%.

Microbiology research poster example
A microbiology research poster example should show the sampling plan, how the plates were read and a ranking a reader can trust, because raw colony counts rarely travel between laboratories. This A0 portrait board reports a fictional study of 720 swabs from eight surface types in three hospital wards, with one ranked bar chart of median load, a four bar comparison panel, a single 6x stat block and four cleaning actions.

Midwifery research poster example
A midwifery audit poster has to show four outcomes at once without turning into a table nobody reads. This board plots induction, epidural, breastfeeding and caesarean side by side for two models of care across 1,860 matched Australian births, then prints the counts behind every percentage in the results block.

Mixed methods study poster example
A mixed methods study poster must show both strands and, more important, where they meet. This A0 landscape example uses an explanatory sequential design: records for 14,200 clinic visits show waits peaking at 41 minutes at 3 pm, then 30 patient interviews explain why, and a three row joint display ties each theme to the pattern it explains.

Neuroscience research poster example
A crossover poster lives or dies on whether the reader can see that the same people did both conditions. This board says so in the methods block, gives the centre of the canvas to reaction time across eight blocks of 50 trials, and puts the 31 millisecond difference and its interval where the eye lands next.

Nursing research poster
A ward based trial of four hourly against two hourly repositioning on high specification foam, laid out as an A0 landscape board in four columns. It reports both outcomes a nursing trial has to report: whether patients were harmed, and how much nursing time the change gives back.

Nutrition research poster example
A dietetics audit poster is read for two things: what the method could actually measure, and which component of the diet is missing. This A0 landscape board photographs 2,400 school lunches across 20 schools, scores each against a guideline, and reports vegetables as the component that fails everywhere.

Oceanography research poster example
Kelp canopy cover at sixteen fixed reef transects over five consecutive summers, laid out as an A0 landscape board in two rows. The top row carries the method and the figure on a light ground, and the bottom row sets the results in a dark card that pulls the eye down.

Pharmacy research poster example
A medication review produces a document, and a document is not a change. This board follows every recommendation a pharmacist made across five aged care homes through to a 90 day chart check, with the four headline numbers running as a strip under the title.

Physics research poster example
Air damping of a torsion pendulum measured at five chamber pressures, laid out as an A0 portrait board where one hero figure takes the whole upper half. Four decay curves on one set of axes carry the result, and the columns underneath say how the fit was tested.

Physiotherapy research poster example
A non inferiority trial poster has to make the margin visible, because the whole claim rests on it. This board randomises 180 patients to telehealth or in clinic knee rehabilitation, states the 4 point margin in the methods, and puts the 1.2 point difference and its interval in a stat block next to the two arm means.

Political science research poster example
A randomised trial of one administrative text message and early voting turnout, laid out as an A0 portrait board with a strip of four numbers across the top. The strip carries the whole result, and the columns under it explain how it was obtained.

Psychology research poster
The strongest psychology research poster leads with its question and answers it in the first sentence of results. This A0 portrait example asks whether ten minutes of paced breathing before an exam lowers test anxiety, and answers with the number: 5.7 points lower with a 95% CI of -8.4 to -3.0, in a pre registered two arm experiment with 204 students analysed.

Public health poster
A public health poster has to state one finding a passer by can repeat, show the data behind it, and end with what a service should change. This A0 portrait example reports a fictional analysis of eight years of city records: emergency admissions in people 65 and over rose 14.2 per cent on nights when the minimum stayed above 22.1 degrees. It carries a one line key finding, a background block, labelled methods, one five band chart, one stat block, a discussion and four takeaways.

Qualitative study poster example
A qualitative study poster has to let the participants speak in a few words and still show how far each theme reached. This A0 portrait example reports 36 interviews with unpaid family carers about getting respite: four themes, each with one quote under 30 words and a count, led by respite as a fight in 28 of 36 interviews.

Quality improvement poster
A nurse led project cutting time to antibiotics in suspected sepsis, laid out as an A0 portrait board. The spine of the poster is the cycle chain, because a QI poster has to show the sequence of changes rather than a single intervention, and the results block separates what each change contributed instead of reporting one before and after number.

Randomised controlled trial poster example
A randomised controlled trial poster must let a reader follow every participant and find the primary outcome with its interval. This A0 portrait board reports a behavioural trial of a sleep app against written advice in 240 adults: insomnia scores fell 3.3 points more with the app, 95% CI 1.9 to 4.7, with the flow from 318 screened to 221 analysed.

Renewable energy research poster example
A renewable energy research poster earns its place when it tests a number people rely on. This Australian A0 landscape board checks the design model behind rooftop solar quotes against a year of meter data from 220 systems, and finds the model overstates yield by 3.1% overall and by 7% on south facing roofs.

Robotics research poster example
A robotics poster has to show the method as a sequence before it shows a result, because the result only means something once the reader knows what the robot does at each step. This board runs map, plan, detect, replan and execute across the top as a five stage chain, then gives run times at three obstacle densities underneath.

Simulation study poster example
A simulation study poster must say what the model assumes as clearly as what it found. This A0 landscape example runs an agent based evacuation model of a 1,200 seat hall under four exit layouts, 500 runs each. Adding a fourth exit at the rear cuts mean clearance from 212 to 168 seconds, 21% faster, and the 95th percentile from 251 to 192. Four model limits sit right beside that headline.

Social work research poster example
Twelve months of routine time records from 84 caseworkers in six offices, laid out as an A0 portrait board with three icon topped key points across the top. The board answers one question a manager can act on: what a caseload of thirty costs in client contact.

Sociology research poster example
A sociology research poster example should show who was interviewed, how the talk was coded and what people actually said, with counts a reader can check. This A0 portrait board reports a fictional study of 48 renters in three cities asking why they stop reporting repairs, and fear of a rent rise came up in 31 of the interviews. It uses a question as the title, a one line key finding, five labelled methods entries, one chart of four reasons, one stat block and four takeaways, and every count on it traces back to the 48 interviews.

Software engineering research poster example
A software engineering research poster has to make a mined dataset readable from two metres away. This A0 landscape board does it for code review: 41,000 pull requests in 14 open source repositories, with the median wait for a first review falling from 31 hours to 22 over three years, shown as a four point timeline across the top.

Soil science research poster example
Four years of soil organic carbon under cover crops across 24 paired paddocks, laid out as an A0 portrait board built on a before and after grid. The top half sets up the paddocks and the question, the bottom half reports what four years changed, and the figure sits between them.
