Life and health sciences research poster examples, in full

A board in these fields is read by someone deciding in ten seconds whether your sample was big enough and your comparison was fair. Each poster here is a whole A0 board with its design, its participant numbers, its figures and its caveats written out.

The reader is checking the design before the finding

Twelve boards, and the thing that separates them is the study behind them rather than the discipline on the title. Three report a comparison where people were allocated to arms, so they carry a flow diagram that reconciles from the number screened down to the number analysed: the midwifery continuity audit, the knee rehabilitation trial and the feline weight clinic. Four are audits of routine practice, where the interest is in what was found in the records rather than in an intervention: pharmacy medication reviews, dentistry fluoride varnish, nutrition in school lunches and agriculture variety trials. The rest are measurement studies, where the method is the argument: surface swabs, frog call surveys, variant frequencies and reaction times. Read the design first and the discipline second, because a board from the wrong design will mislead you about what to put where.

Figures, and the things the layout decides for you

Each design fixes the kind of chart its figure block draws, so the studies here were written around the chart that renders rather than the one the author might have preferred. Two boards plot a difference rather than an absolute, because a value axis starts at zero and a series in a narrow band far from zero draws as a flat line: the sports science board plots seconds faster than the slowest sleep band, and the veterinary board plots kilograms lost rather than weight. Both name the real numbers in the caption and in the results. Captions on every board list the categories in order, which is worth copying whatever tool you use.

Printing, and what to take from these

There are two board sizes, A0 portrait and A0 landscape, and a design is authored for one of them. The export is roughly a hundred dots per inch at full size, in RGB, with no bleed, no crop marks and no CMYK conversion, so treat these as conference boards and confirm the file with your print shop. Six of the twelve are Australian and name Australian settings and bodies. Every study, institution, patient and author on these pages is invented, so take the structure, the section order and the level of detail, and replace the content with your own.

Build a poster from your own study

Paste what your study did and found, pick A0 portrait or landscape, and the generator writes every section and fills the charts and the participant flow from your numbers.

Make a poster

Step by step in the builder: pick an A0 board and a theme, then fill the figure and flow blocks. For everything the generator can do, see the poster maker.
