Online stamp maker

An online stamp maker draws the image of a rubber stamp: a company name around a ring, a word such as PAID or RECEIVED in the middle and a date line, in blue, red, black or green ink. This one draws round, oval or box stamps live, sized in millimetres at 300 DPI, and saves a transparent PNG or an SVG to drop onto an invoice or document.

What a stamp image is for

A stamp image marks the status of a document: PAID on an invoice, RECEIVED on a letter, APPROVED on a purchase order, COPY or DRAFT on a version that is not final. It can also carry a business's name and date in a familiar round shape on a delivery docket or a certificate. Because it is an image, it says what someone chose to put on the page; it carries no more weight than typing the same words.

A decorative stamp and a common seal

A company's common seal is a formal way of executing documents, and companies in the UK and Australia no longer need one. The Companies Act 2006 makes a common seal optional for UK companies, and the Corporations Act 2001 lets an Australian company sign documents through its directors or a director and secretary without a seal. A stamp image made here is not a common seal and does not execute anything; a document still needs the signatures its law requires.

Common sizes

Round company stamps are commonly 38 to 45 mm across, with 40 mm a usual choice; oval stamps around 50 by 30 mm; and box stamps for PAID or RECEIVED around 50 by 20 to 25 mm. At 300 DPI a 40 mm stamp is 472 pixels across, sharp enough for print. On a screen document such as a PDF invoice, the PNG can be scaled down and stays crisp, and the SVG scales to any size.

Ink colours and what they signal

Blue is the classic office stamp colour and reads clearly against black type, which is why many businesses use it for RECEIVED and approval marks. Red draws attention and suits PAID, OVERDUE or URGENT. Black is the most formal and prints well in black and white copies. Green is often used for checked or approved marks in accounts teams. The colour carries no rule of its own; choosing one per meaning and keeping to it makes a filing system easier to read.

Worn ink and transparent backgrounds

A real rubber stamp leaves uneven ink. The worn texture adds a fine speckled mask so the image looks pressed rather than printed, which reads as a stamp at a glance. The background is transparent in both formats, so the stamp can sit over text or a signature line without a white box around it. Turn the texture off for a clean mark on a formal letterhead.

Using it in a document

In the document builder, an image block can hold the PNG on an invoice or a letter. The builder's Document group also has its own Stamp block for marks drawn in the document itself, so a simple PAID or DRAFT may not need an image at all. Keep the image for a branded stamp with the business name around the ring.

Limits

  • An image of a stamp, not a company seal, a signature or proof that anything was paid or approved.
  • Fonts are the browser's Arial or Helvetica; no font upload and no logo or image in the ring.
  • Ring text over about 34 characters gets small; shorten it or widen the stamp.
  • Width from 20 to 80 mm; box stamps are 45% as tall as wide and ovals 65%.

What it does not do

  • It does not make a physical stamp or send a design to a printer.
  • It does not certify, sign or seal a document.
  • It does not store the text or the image.

Questions people ask

How do I make a company stamp online?

Pick round, oval or box, type the company name for the ring, a centre word such as PAID and an optional date, choose the ink colour and width, then download a PNG or SVG. Everything is drawn in the page, so nothing is uploaded.

Is a stamp image legally valid?

A stamp image has no legal force of its own. It shows a status or a name, like typed text would. Executing a contract still needs the signatures, or the seal where one is used, that the governing law requires, and an e-signature service records who signed and when.

What size is a company stamp?

Round company stamps are usually 38 to 45 mm across, with 40 mm a common choice. Box stamps for words like PAID are often about 50 mm wide. Set the width in millimetres; the PNG is drawn at 300 DPI so it prints at that size.

Can I put my logo in the stamp?

Not in this tool, which draws text only, so the stamp stays legible at small sizes. Place a logo next to the stamp in the document instead, or use the SVG in a design tool and add the logo there.

Why is my ring text so small?

Text on a ring has to fit around the top half of the circle, so a long name gets smaller. Over about 34 characters, shorten it, for example by dropping Pty Ltd, or widen the stamp to 45 or 50 mm.

PNG or SVG, which should I use?

PNG for documents, email and most office software, because almost everything accepts it. SVG for design tools and websites, because it stays sharp at any size. Both have transparent backgrounds. If unsure, download both; they are drawn from the same design and look the same at normal sizes.
