Build your own form theme
Start from a built-in theme, or build one from scratch with your own layout, colours, fonts and effects, save it, and reuse it on every form you make.

This guide shows you how to restyle a form with the built-in themes, and how to build and save a theme of your own.
A form carrying your colours and your typeface reads as yours. It takes about ten minutes once, and then every form after it starts from your look instead of ours.
Open Theme Studio
In the classic builder, click Theme in the top bar. In the conversational builder, open Style from the rail on the right edge. Both open the same panel with three tabs: Themes, Colors and Fonts.
Start with a built-in theme
The Themes tab lists the built-in themes: twelve for classic forms, twenty five for conversational ones. Click one and the whole form restyles at once. The count at the bottom of the panel tells you how many are available, including any of your own.
That is usually the fastest route. Find the closest one, then adjust.
Theme Studio, with the theme count at the bottom of the panel.
Colors holds twenty two palettes. Pick one and it recolours the theme you are on, so you can take a layout you like and put your own colours through it.
Fonts holds twenty three pairings, plus size controls for headings, subheadings, labels and inputs. Conversational forms get bigger defaults than classic ones, because their text carries a full screen rather than a field label.
Fonts pairs a heading face with a body face, then lets you size each role.
If that gets you where you want to be, stop here. You do not need a custom theme to have a good looking form.
Colors recolours the theme you are already on.
When to build your own
Build a custom theme when you want to save a look and use it again. It is the difference between styling one form and having a house style.
At the bottom of the Themes tab, click Create Custom Theme. The Theme Builder opens in a new tab with the settings on the left and a live preview on the right, so every change shows up straight away.
Give it a name first, in Theme Details. Something you will recognise in a list later, like “Acme 2026” rather than “My Custom Theme”.
Settings on the left, live preview on the right. Every change shows immediately.
Layout
The Layout tab picks the shape of the whole screen, with six options:
- Full Screen, the form sits on a full-bleed background
- Floating Card, a card floating over the background
- Card Split Left, a card with the form left and media right
- Card Split Right, a card with media left and the form right
- Split Left, a straight fifty-fifty with the form on the left
- Split Right, the same with the media on the left
Pick a split layout that is not a floating one and a Mask Style section appears. This shapes the edge where the media panel meets the form: None for a clean straight edge, or one of thirteen shaped edges including Slant, Scoop, Wave, Chevron, Zigzag and Cascade. It is the detail that stops a split layout looking like a template.
Below that you choose what fills the media panel: a Media Gradient, an Image URL, or nothing at all. The Background section at the bottom sets the page behind everything, either a solid Background Color or a Background Gradient.
Colors
Three controls, and they cover most of what people want: Accent Color, which drives buttons and highlights, Form Background, and Input Background.
Put your brand colour into Accent and check the preview. If your accent is pale, it may not carry a white button label, and this is the moment to find that out rather than after you publish.
Typography
Font Family offers nine faces: Inter, Roboto, Open Sans, Lato, Montserrat, Poppins, Playfair Display, Merriweather and Source Code Pro.
Text Sizes then sets Heading Size, Question Size and Input Size. Keep some distance between the heading and the question, or the hierarchy flattens and everything reads as equally important.
Effects
The Effects tab is the finish. Border Radius runs None, Small, Medium, Large, Full. Shadow runs None, Small, Medium, Large. Input Style offers Outline, Filled or Underline, and this one changes the character of the form more than anything else on the tab. Underline feels light and modern. Outline feels standard and safe. Filled feels solid.
The last two settings are about paper, not screen. PDF Field Style offers Boxed, Underlined, Filled or Minimal, and PDF Density offers Compact, Comfortable or Spacious. They decide how your fields look in the downloaded PDF, so if your form ends up printed or attached to an email, set them deliberately rather than leaving the defaults.
Effects is the finish: corners, shadow, and how the inputs are drawn.
Save it and use it everywhere
Save the theme and it appears at the top of the Themes tab under Your Custom Themes, on every form in your account. Each card has an edit action that reopens the Theme Builder on that theme, and a delete action that asks to confirm first, because deleting cannot be undone.
Apply it to a form the same way you apply any theme: click it.
What to check before you call it done
Apply the theme to a real form and look at it, not at the preview. Check a long dropdown, a checkbox group, a required field with its red asterisk, and the submit button. Then open the form on a phone. A theme that looks sharp at desktop width sometimes loses its contrast when the layout collapses to one column.
For the fields themselves, see Every form field and when to use it.
