A Draftbit alternative: AI written Expo apps for small businesses

Draftbit is a builder for mobile apps, web apps and websites that pairs a visual editor with coding agents you bring yourself, from free to $24 a month per seat. OneCraft has its own agent write a complete Expo app from a business brief, plans a database when the app needs one, and checks the result before you see it.

The short verdict

Draftbit is the better pick for a developer or technical founder who already pays for Claude or ChatGPT, wants a visual editor and full code editing side by side, and wants builds, simulators and App Store submission help in one place. OneCraft suits a business owner who wants the agent, the plan, the database and the checks handled inside one subscription and would rather describe changes than edit code.

Where Draftbit is better

Where OneCraft is different

Same stack, different roles

Both tools work with React Native and Supabase, so the code at the end looks familiar to the same developers. The difference is who drives. In Draftbit you sit in the editor with a coding agent beside you, and you decide how far to take each change. In OneCraft the agent works through a pipeline with its own plan, build steps and a review of screenshots, and you steer it with plain messages such as asking for a waitlist on full classes.

Builds and the stores

Draftbit counts builds per seat each month and offers App Store submission assistance on Pro. OneCraft charges 5 credits for each Expo test or store build on paid plans, runs them on OneCraft's Expo organisation unless you connect your own token, and leaves submission to you with eas submit from your own Apple and Google accounts.

What each monthly price covers

Draftbit's Standard plan is $12 a month, and the AI runs on a subscription you pay for separately or on credits you buy. OneCraft's Starter plan is $8 a month with 500 credits that cover the model use; a measured whole app generation used 55 to 72 credits.

Who should stay with Draftbit

Stay with Draftbit if you or a developer want to edit the code yourselves, already pay for an AI coding subscription, or need several editors and simulators. Move if you want one place that writes, checks and builds a business app for you from a description, with the database and payments set up as part of it.

Questions people ask

Can I open a OneCraft app in Draftbit later?

You can download the app as a zip with app.json filled. It is a standard Expo project, so any tool or developer that works with Expo can open it. Changes made outside OneCraft do not sync back into the builder, so pick one place to keep working.

Does OneCraft use my own Claude or OpenAI key?

No. The model use is billed in OneCraft credits at 1 credit per US cent; builds and exports are free. A chat turn needs 2 credits available before it starts, and a change whose build fails is rolled back.

Can a OneCraft app share a database with a website?

Yes. When you create an app you can base it on one of your OneCraft websites, and the app then reads that website's database as well as its colours, fonts and content. The two stay separate projects with separate builds.

Which plan do I need for a hosted database?

A schema in OneCraft's pool comes with every plan. If you connect your own Supabase account once in the builder, the agent uses a project there instead. Either way the tables carry row level security, and the migrations are written into the repository.

Is there a web version of the app?

The builder preview runs a web export of the Expo app so you can try it. For a public website, OneCraft makes a separate website project written with React Router, and an app can be based on it. The website and the app can share one database, so data entered on one shows on the other.
