Plumber flyer for a licensed local plumbing business
A plumber’s flyer is read at the moment something is leaking, so the reader is deciding whether to trust a stranger in the next ten minutes. These three are for Pipewright Plumbing, a fictional two van business that letterboxes 5,000 homes a quarter, and every one prints the licence number, the insurance cover and a call-out price rather than asking the reader to call for a quote.
The 3 designs
The same business laid out three ways, on three templates and three colour themes. Every price, name and time on these was written for this example, so you can judge the layouts on real content rather than placeholder text.

What each layout is doing
The checklist design is the most complete: a photo header, a diagonal headline band, an about paragraph beside the two hour stat panel, two service rows, a four item checklist of credentials, then a call to action wedge and a dark contact footer. It is the version for the letterbox, because it answers the trust question and the price question on one side of paper. The brochure design is the two column one, with a 360 character story column and three icon features, and it suits a counter at a hardware shop where somebody reads standing up. The services design is the simplest and the most direct, a two line hero reading blocked drains cleared, three service rows with prices, and a phone number set at h1 size, which is what you want on a fridge.
How to adapt these
For an electrician, the checklist layout transfers unchanged: swap the licence prefix, change the four services and keep the arrival time stat, since electrical faults are also bought on speed. For a handyman, drop the licence line rather than inventing one, and use the space for the hourly rate and the minimum charge, which is what an unlicensed trade competes on. For a 24 hour emergency version, put the after hours rate on the flyer beside the day rate, because a customer who finds out about the surcharge at midnight is a complaint rather than a repeat.
What makes these work
The licence number is on the first screen of all three
PL 48213 appears in the checklist design’s why panel, on the seal badge of the brochure design, and in the logo lockup of the services design where it sits directly under the business name. A licence number is the cheapest trust signal a trade has, and putting it beside the name rather than in the small print is the difference between a credential and a disclaimer.
Every design prints a call-out fee
$95, first thirty minutes included, on all three. None says call for a quote. A homeowner with water on the floor is comparing two flyers on the fridge, and the one with a number wins even when the number is higher, because the other one reads as a negotiation they do not have time for.
The hero number is the one a leak makes you want
The checklist design gives its stat panel to "2h average arrival on same day calls, measured across 2025". Not years in business, not jobs completed. Somebody reading a plumbing flyer at 7am is buying a time, and a two hour average is the single most useful thing the flyer can say about the business.
Questions people ask
What goes on a plumber flyer?
Six things: what you do, the licence number, the insurance cover, the call-out fee, the guarantee, and the phone number at a size you can read from across a kitchen. These three carry all six. What to leave off is the equipment list and the founder story, because neither helps someone standing in a wet laundry.
Do I have to show my licence number?
In Australia, plumbing is licensed and most states require the licence number in advertising, so check your own regulator before you print. NSW Fair Trading publishes the rules for plumbers, drainers and gasfitters, and gas work has its own authority in each state. These examples carry a fictional number, PL 48213, in the format a real one would use.
Should I put prices on a trade flyer?
Put the prices that do not vary. A call-out fee, a camera inspection and a standard hot water swap are all quotable in advance, and all three appear here. What you should not print is a price for work you have not seen. The pattern that works is a fixed number for the visit and a promise of a fixed quote before anything starts.
What size is right for a letterbox drop?
A4 portrait, which is what these three are, or A4 Landscape if your distributor prefers it. Both are native sizes for every design here. DL is not one of the eight canvas sizes, so a DL flyer means printing A4 and folding, or having your printer trim, and the artwork has no bleed to trim into.
How do I get a photo that does not look like stock?
Photograph your own work at the end of a job: pipe fittings on the bench, the new unit on the wall, the drain you just cleared. The three photos here are a copper fitting close-up, a drain grate and a hot water unit, all objects rather than people. You can upload JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF up to 10 MB once the flyer is saved.
Can I print this at a commercial printer?
You can send them the PDF, but check with them first. Capture runs at twice scale, so an A4 page comes out at 2480 by 3508 pixels, which is A4 at 300 DPI. There is no bleed, no crop marks and no CMYK conversion anywhere in the export, so a printer who needs bleed will have to add it.

Property for sale flyer for a four bedroom family home
A for sale flyer carries five facts, bedrooms and bathrooms, land size, the price guide, the inspection times and the agent, and the layout question is how much room is left for photos once those five are on the page. These three are for Marlow & Reid, a fictional agency dropping flyers to 600 neighbouring homes the week 14 Kestrel Court goes live.
Landscaping flyer for a garden design and build company
Landscaping is quoted on site, so a landscaping flyer sells proof and ends on a free visit rather than a price. These three are for Greenmark Landscapes, a fictional company that has built 340 residential gardens across three suburbs in twelve years, and they show three kinds of proof: the numbers, one garden’s transformation, and a photograph with a sentence.
Open house flyer
One Saturday in Carlton, two homes, three flyers from Halloran Property. The listing sheet for 41 Cardigan Street goes in the front window and into buyers hands at 11am, with four facts under the photo: 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, rear parking, 312 sqm block. The second sheet sends them to 9 Drummond Street at 12pm, four streets away, with the rates, the 2023 roof and a price guide of $1.15M to $1.25M. The third tells them what to bring so an offer can be made the same afternoon.
