Sign a casual employment agreement online
A casual employment agreement has to show the employee saw the loading and the rate table, not only the last page. This envelope carries the Kingsway Grocer retail assistant agreement from the documents examples, with initials on pages 1 to 4, a signature, a stamped date and an emergency contact on page 5, and the store manager countersigning once the employee is through.

The signing journey
Step 1
Eight fields, and the order switched on
The employee gets four initials spots, one at the foot of each content page, plus an emergency contact box, a signature and a date on page 5. The manager gets one signature block. With Sign in order on, only the employee is invited when Send is pressed.
Step 2
The employee proves who they are first
Set to the emailed one-time code, the link opens a verification card rather than the agreement. The code is six digits, lasts ten minutes and is redeemable once, and five wrong attempts lock the recipient for fifteen minutes.
Step 3
One drawing fills all five marks
Tomas drew once. The portal filled the four initials spots and the page 5 signature from that drawing, scrolling him spot to spot. He typed the emergency contact, accepted consent, and the date beside his signature stamped itself as Sep 12, 2026.
Step 4
The store manager is invited only now
Deb opened a copy that already carried the initials. Her block printed FOR KINGSWAY GROCER PTY LTD over three lines: her name from the recipient record, the title she typed, and a date she was never given a box for.
Every field, and who fills it
Eight fields, split two ways. The employee owns seven: four initials spots at the foot of pages 1 to 4, a text box labelled Emergency contact, name and phone, a signature and a date. The manager owns one signature block headed For Kingsway Grocer Pty Ltd with the Name, Title and Date lines on. Three of those lines are typed by nobody: Name comes from the recipient record and both dates stamp from the moment each person submitted. The sender cannot pre-type a value either, since the editor offers a label and a Required switch and nothing else.
How to adapt this envelope
First, a casual starting the same day can take an access code instead, four characters or more, read out over the phone rather than emailed. Second, a store that wants the manager first swaps the order numbers, and the employee then opens a copy already carrying the countersignature. Third, a longer agreement takes more initials spots at no extra cost to the signer, since one drawing fills every one of them.
Why the signed copy matters for record keeping
Australian employers keep employment records for seven years, in a legible form, and produce them on request. A certified PDF with both signatures, both IP addresses and a consent timestamp answers that better than a scan of a page signed at the counter. The agreement also records that the Casual Employment Information Statement was given, on a page the employee initialled.
What makes this signing flow work
The rate pages carry their own mark
The loading table, the shift rules, the conversion pathway and the record keeping clause each sit on a page carrying the employee's initials. An argument about whether page 2 was read runs into a mark on page 2, hashed to the same image as the page 5 signature.
The code ties acceptance to a mailbox
With the emailed one-time code set, possession of the link alone reveals only the title and which check is needed. The certificate prints Email link + emailed one-time code beside the employee's name, which says more than a click on a forwarded email.
Nobody countersigns an unaccepted agreement
Sign in order is on, so the manager's invitation does not exist until the employee has signed. Every countersigned copy out of this envelope was countersigned over a completed acceptance.
Questions people ask
Is a typed signature valid on an employment agreement?
The portal offers a drawn pad and a typed name and treats them the same way. A typed name is rendered to an image, hashed, stored and stamped exactly as a drawn one, with the same consent record, IP address and verification behind it. Whether a signature binds is a question for your jurisdiction.
Can the employer countersign later, after the employee signs?
That is what this envelope does. Sign in order is on and the manager sits second, so her invitation is generated only when the employee's signature lands. There is no deadline between the two beyond the envelope expiry, so a manager signing three days later lands on the same file.
What happens if the employee declines to sign?
The envelope moves to declined, nothing further is stamped, and the sender gets a Declined email carrying whatever reason the employee typed. The manager is never invited, because her turn never comes. A declined envelope can still be voided with a note.
How long is the signing link live?
Thirty days from when the envelope was created, and no screen in the app changes that. After it lapses the link answers that the signing request has expired. Before that, Resend rotates the link and sends a fresh invitation, which kills the old link.
Does the employee have to initial every page separately?
No. One drawing fills all four initials spots and the page 5 signature at once, and the header counts them from Signature 1 of 5 to 5 of 5 while scrolling to each. Below 560 pixels the document goes read only and typed boxes collect into a panel above it.
Where does the emergency contact end up?
Stamped onto page 5 above the rule, in the employee's own typing, inside the certified PDF both sides receive. A long value shrinks in quarter point steps to a floor of four points, so a two line contact never runs past its box.
