The short verdict
Fresha is the better pick for a salon that wants new clients from a large booking marketplace, an in-salon point of sale with card terminals, and free email and app notifications, and accepts a commission on each new client found there. OneCraft suits a salon with its own clients that wants a booking website or app under its own name, deposits paid to its own Stripe account and no commission on new bookings.

Where Fresha is better
A marketplace of clients
Fresha says 25+ million customers look for bookings on its marketplace. A OneCraft site brings no marketplace traffic; clients find it through your own address and search.
In-salon payments
Fresha sells card terminals and a point of sale for the front desk. OneCraft takes card payments online through Stripe Checkout only.
Messages included
Fresha sends unlimited automated email and app notifications and 20 texts a month free. OneCraft has no SMS.
Where OneCraft is different
No commission on new clients
OneCraft keeps a platform fee of 2%, 1% or 0.5% on card payments made through the site, by plan, and no commission tied to where a client came from.
A website under your name
The agent writes a booking website with your services, stylists and aftercare pages, published on a free onecraft.live address or your own domain on a paid plan.
Your own client data
Clients, bookings and deposits live in the site's own database with row level security, and the code and schema download with the site.
Where the money goes
Fresha's subscription is A$44.95 a month for one person or A$29.95 per bookable team member, its online card rate is 1.59% plus 28 cents, and a new client found through its marketplace costs a 20% one-time commission with an A$8 minimum. OneCraft Starter is $8 a month and Pro $25; Stripe's own card fees apply and OneCraft keeps 2% on Starter or 1% on Pro. A salon of four on Fresha's Team plan pays about A$120 a month before commissions.
What the booking site holds
From a brief that names services, prices, durations and stylists, the agent writes the service menu, a booking form by stylist and time, deposits for colour appointments through Stripe Checkout, and an admin area for the salon. Clients sign in with email or Google to see their own bookings, and access rules keep each client's rows private.
Getting found without a marketplace
A OneCraft site carries its own address, page titles and descriptions on every route, and with the seo guide adds structured data and a robots.txt. Visits, top pages and referrers show in Settings once published. That is slower than a marketplace for new clients, which is why a busy marketplace salon may keep Fresha.
Who should stay with Fresha
Stay with Fresha if the marketplace brings you new clients, you take card payments at the front desk, or you rely on text reminders. Move if your book is mostly regulars and word of mouth, you want bookings on your own website or app, and you would rather pay a flat plan than a commission on new clients.
Questions people ask
Can clients book through Instagram with OneCraft?
You can put the website's booking page address in your Instagram profile so clients book on your own site. Fresha's native Facebook and Instagram booking buttons are its own feature and do not carry over. Visits from Instagram then show among the referrers in Settings once the site is published.
Does OneCraft have a till or card reader?
No. Card payments run online through Stripe Checkout on your connected Stripe account. A salon that takes payment at the front desk would keep its own point of sale or card terminal alongside the site. Online deposits and full payments still land in the same Stripe account the salon uses.
Can I charge for no-shows?
A deposit is charged when the client books, through Stripe Checkout. Automatic no-show charges are not listed for OneCraft sites, so a deposit is the dependable way to cover a missed appointment. A deposit is refunded from your Stripe dashboard if you choose to.
How do stylists see their day?
Through the admin area the agent builds, shown only to people in the site's site_admins table. There is no live calendar feed to Google or Outlook, so the admin view is where the day's bookings are read. Each stylist can be made an admin, and the first admin is created from the owner's contact email.
Can I try this before leaving Fresha?
Yes. The free plan has 100 credits a month to generate and preview a booking site. Publishing it, connecting your domain and taking deposits need a paid plan from $8 a month, so you can run both side by side while you test.
