Google Forms vs Microsoft Forms, with a third column
Google Forms and Microsoft Forms both build quizzes and surveys that score answers and send results to a spreadsheet; the deciding factor is usually whether your organisation lives in Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. OneCraft is a third column for forms that need more design, a conversational layout, a PDF or a signature.

The short verdict
Google Forms suits teams in Google Workspace who want quizzes with answer keys, results flowing into Sheets and collaborators editing together. Microsoft Forms suits schools and offices on Microsoft 365 who want quizzes, branching and Excel export with their existing accounts. OneCraft suits forms that must look designed, run one question at a time, become a PDF or end in a signature.

Where Google Forms is better
Quizzes that grade themselves
Google Forms sets answer keys and points, adds written or video feedback and summarises frequently missed questions. OneCraft has no quiz mode, so a test can be collected but nothing is marked.
Results straight into Sheets
Responses export into Google Sheets for analysis, which suits teams already working there. OneCraft offers a CSV download and a webhook, with no live spreadsheet.
Editing with colleagues
Forms can be shared with others to collaborate and analyse results in one place. A OneCraft form is edited by its owner only.
Where Microsoft Forms is better
Included with Microsoft 365
Forms is listed as included in the Microsoft 365 plans for individuals and families, and staff can sign in with school or work credentials they already have. There is no new account to manage.
Quiz scoring with Excel export
Microsoft Forms assigns points, marks correct answers and exports results to Excel. Teachers who grade in Excel get the whole loop without another tool.
Ranking, Likert and NPS questions
Ranking, Likert, rating and Net Promoter Score are built in question types. OneCraft can build a Likert grid as a matrix and NPS as a 0 to 10 radio, but has no ranking question.
Where OneCraft is different
Two kinds of form from one builder
Classic forms run as a page, one column or paginated steps. Conversational forms ask one question at a time with jump rules, recorded audio or video answers and a profile screen.
A designed first impression
Ten welcome layouts and four thank-you layouts, 37 themes and 24 background patterns let a form match a brand without custom code.
Paper in, paper out
On a paid plan a PDF or a photo of a paper form can start the generator, and the finished form exports as a fillable PDF arranged in its own layout editor.
Signing at the end
An e-signing add-on turns each submitted response into an envelope, signed in order and returned as a certified PDF with an audit trail.

Checked 5 October 2026. The Google Forms page states no price of its own and points business users to Google Workspace. Microsoft's comparison page lists Forms as included in Microsoft 365 Personal at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year and Family at $12.99 a month or $129.99 a year, and its help page lets anyone sign in with a Microsoft account. OneCraft is Free at $0 with 100 credits a month, then Starter at $8, Pro at $25 and Pro+ at $125. The fillable PDF export needs Starter; a response PDF has no plan gate.
Choosing between Google Forms and Microsoft Forms
Follow your accounts. If staff sign in with Google and analyse in Sheets, Google Forms adds nothing to manage. If they sign in to Microsoft 365 and grade in Excel, Microsoft Forms does. On features the two are close: both score quizzes, both branch on answers, both take file uploads. Google ties uploads to a Google Account sign in and to the owner's Drive; Microsoft offers ranking, Likert and NPS questions. For a classroom quiz either is a fine choice.
Where a third column fits
OneCraft is for the forms a quiz tool is not built for: an event RSVP that should look like the invitation, an intake form a client fills on a phone one question at a time, an application that has to print as a tidy PDF, or an agreement that ends in a signature. It gives up quizzes, live spreadsheets and co-editing to do that, so a school assessment belongs in Google or Microsoft.
What could not be checked
The pages checked do not list a conversational layout, a PDF output or signing for either competitor, and Microsoft's help page does not say which plans include Copilot form drafting, so those cells say what the pages say. Every OneCraft cell names a row in an internal fact ledger checked against the product's source code.
Who should stay with Google Forms or Microsoft Forms
Stay with Google Forms if you grade quizzes, analyse in Sheets and edit with colleagues in Workspace. Stay with Microsoft Forms if your organisation runs on Microsoft 365, grades in Excel or needs ranking questions. OneCraft fits designed forms, conversational forms, PDFs and signatures.
Questions people ask
Is Google Forms or Microsoft Forms better for quizzes?
Both handle a classroom quiz well. Google Forms adds answer feedback with written or video explanations and lets you release grades after manual review. Microsoft Forms adds a custom message per answer and exports results to Excel. Pick the one your students already sign in to, since that removes the most friction.
Do respondents need an account to upload a file?
In Google Forms, yes: a file upload question asks the responder to sign in to a Google Account, and the files land in the owner's Drive. In OneCraft the owner picks one of four access types for the whole form, public, secret key, login required or domain restricted, and a public form needs no sign in.
Can OneCraft send responses to Google Sheets or Excel?
Not directly. Responses can be downloaded as a CSV that opens in either, with one column per field and choice answers exported as their labels. For a live feed, the webhook add-on posts each response once as JSON, which an automation service can write to a sheet. There is no retry if the receiving end fails.
Which is best for a form people fill on a phone?
All three can be filled on a phone. OneCraft's conversational form type is built for it: one question per screen, a progress bar that counts visited screens, and jump rules that skip questions that do not apply. The Google and Microsoft pages checked describe a standard question form, which suits short surveys and quizzes well.
Can I turn a printed form into an online one with each tool?
In OneCraft, on a paid plan, attach a PDF or a photo of the paper form to the generator and it rebuilds the fields as an online form; the original layout is not kept. Google's Gemini drafting can start from Drive files on eligible plans. The Microsoft help page checked does not describe an import from a document.
