Plant shop online store example with local delivery
A plant shop has a problem other stores do not: its products are alive and travel badly. This example for an invented Brisbane nursery sells six easy care plants in two pot sizes, says plainly that plants are delivered only in South East Queensland, and ships pots and potting mix anywhere.

A centred hero over a photo of shop shelves, the plants collection in a product grid, a three step care guide, pots and supplies in a scrolling strip and a delivery FAQ. Publishing adds collection pages for plants and for pots and supplies, a page per product and the cart.
Setting up delivery
In the store admin, make a shipping zone for Australia with a rate, and a pickup location for the nursery. Delivery areas inside a state are not a zone option, so this example states the local van area in the FAQ and lets shoppers choose pickup at checkout.
What makes this website work
Pot size as the variant
Each plant comes in a 14 cm or 20 cm pot at two prices, which is how nurseries sell. The grid shows "From A$22.00" and the product page lets the buyer pick a size, so one plant is one listing.
Delivery rules for living stock
The FAQ says plants go only in the shop's van in South East Queensland, while pots and mix ship Australia wide. Interstate plant rules and heat make posting plants risky, and saying so stops orders the shop cannot fulfil.
Care in three steps
Light, water and drainage as three icon cards, each with one practical sentence. Most new plant owners fail on one of those three, and showing the care makes buying feel safe.
Questions people ask
Can I offer pickup and delivery?
Yes. Add shipping zones with rates for delivery and a pickup location with instructions. At checkout the cart offers delivery rates for the shopper's country or pickup, and the quote is priced on the server. Orders for pickup show in the admin as ready for pickup once you mark them.
Can delivery be limited to my city?
Shipping zones are set by country, not by postcode, so a city only delivery area cannot be enforced at checkout. This example says the delivery area plainly in the FAQ and offers pickup. Orders from outside the area can be cancelled before payment settles or refunded in Stripe.
How do I show plant sizes?
Give each plant an option named Pot size with values such as 14 cm and 20 cm, and set a price and stock for each. The product grid shows the lowest price as from, and the product page has a size select above Add to cart.
What does low stock look like?
Stock is tracked per variant. The store dashboard lists variants with three or fewer left as low stock, and a variant that sells out shows as sold out on the site. Stock is held for 35 minutes while a shopper is in checkout.
Can I sell plants and pots in one order?
Yes. A cart can mix plants and pots, and the quote prices delivery or pickup for the whole order. If plants are local only but pots ship anywhere, say so on the product pages; the store does not block a mixed cart going interstate.

Candle online store example with sizes and a gift box
Candles are bought on scent and gifted on presentation, so a candle shop has to describe smell in words and show the jar beautifully. This example for an invented Byron Bay maker sells four scents in two sizes, a diffuser, wax melts and a gift box, with care advice and free shipping over $90.
Art print online store example with a size guide
Print buyers stall on one question: which size will fit my wall? This example for an invented Wollongong photographer answers it with a size guide in the middle of the home page, three plan style cards for A4, A3 and A2 with the price and dimensions, before the second collection of prints.
Dog treat online store example with a treat guide
Dog owners buy treats on two worries: what is in them and whether they are safe for their dog. This example for an invented Mudgee maker answers both, single ingredient products named by what they are made of, and a guide to which treat suits which dog, with puppies and supervision covered.
