Questions people ask

What is on the sample repair quote?

Diagnosis at $89, replacement parts at $215 and one and a half hours of labour at $120 an hour, for $532.40 with GST. Pickup and return at $45 is optional, so a customer who drops the item off does not pay for it. Item and model go in the bracketed heading.

Is the diagnosis fee charged if the repair does not go ahead?

Yes. The payment clause makes the diagnosis fee payable if the repair does not proceed, and asks for payment on collection or before return delivery. That line keeps a bench test from becoming free work when the customer decides to replace the item instead.

What happens if another fault turns up mid repair?

The further faults clause stops work and has you contact the customer with a revised quote before continuing. Edit the items in the builder and send the quote again, so the customer accepts the revised total rather than the first one.

How long does the warranty last?

Ninety days on the repair and the parts fitted. It does not cover unrelated faults or damage after the repair. The scope list repeats the warranty with the bracketed number, so changing it in one place and missing the other is the main thing to check before sending.

What about items nobody collects?

The uncollected items clause says items not collected within 60 days of notice may be disposed of to recover costs. Check that the period suits the law where you trade. The quote is valid for 14 days, subject to parts availability, because part prices move.
