Gift voucher SM-2026-04812

Gift voucher

A $150 spa voucher, with the treatment menu costed against it so the recipient can see what it covers and what it leaves to pay. The terms explain the three year expiry as the legal minimum rather than a favour.

Saltmarsh keeps a record of when its own vouchers are redeemed, and the average is about seven months after purchase, with roughly one in twelve never used at all. Booking a date now, even a distant one, is the surest way to keep this voucher out of that group.

What makes this document work

The menu is costed against the balance

Six treatments, each showing whether the voucher covers it and what is left either way. A sixty minute massage leaves $15, the ninety minute costs $35 more. Nobody has to work out what $150 buys before they can book.

The expiry is explained, not just stated

Three years is the minimum a gift card sold to a consumer has to carry under Australian consumer law, and the voucher says so with the supply date and the expiry date both on the page. It reads as a right rather than a concession.

It admits the worst case

If the business stops trading, an unredeemed voucher is an unsecured claim. Putting that in the terms, next to the advice to book a date now, is the single most honest line on a gift card and the most useful.

Questions people ask

How long does a gift voucher have to last in Australia?

At least three years from the day it is supplied, for a gift card sold to a consumer. This one was supplied on 22 August 2026 and runs to 22 August 2029, and the terms say plainly that this is the legal minimum and not a house rule.

Can a business charge fees on a gift card?

Post supply fees are prohibited, with a small number of exceptions that do not apply here. This voucher states that no activation, booking, balance enquiry or account keeping fee is charged at any point.

Can a voucher be used across more than one visit?

On these terms, yes. Spend $110 and the remaining $40 stays on the same voucher number, readable at the till or over the phone. No change is given in cash, which is the standard position and is stated in the terms.

Is GST charged when a voucher is bought?

No. GST is accounted for on the treatment when the voucher is redeemed, and the receipt at that point is the tax invoice. The voucher itself says this so the buyer is not looking for a tax invoice that does not exist yet.
