Product drop flyer

Ninepin Supply makes 120 jackets from one roll of cloth and then stops. A drop flyer for that has an unusual job, because the scarcity is real and has to be stated in a way a reader can check. One flyer is a single garment on a rail. One is a lookbook with the thirty day return promise printed at the bottom. The third is the rules: doors at 10am, two per person, no rainchecks.

The 3 designs

The same business laid out three ways, on three templates and three colour themes. Every price, name and time on these was written for this example, so you can judge the layouts on real content rather than placeholder text.

Ninepin Supply
A waxed cotton jacket laid flat on a scarred workbench beside a tin of wax and a brass zip pull, hard side light from a warehouse window, editorial still life, no people, no text, no signage
ABOUT THE DROP
Ninepin makes one garment at a time and stops when the roll of cloth runs out. Drop 04 is 120 waxed chore jackets cut from a single 12 ounce British roll, sewn in Brisbane, and numbered inside the placket. When the last one goes there is no second run in this cloth, and no waiting list for one.
WHY 120
AND NOT MORE
One roll, one run
Cloth is bought by the roll. One roll yields about 120 jackets, and that number is on the poster before we open.
No rainchecks
We do not take names for a restock we cannot promise. If it sells out at 11am the page says sold out, not back soon.
Two per person
A limit on the day so the queue and the website see the same stock. Resale orders are cancelled and refunded in full.
THE JACKET
Twelve ounce waxed cotton, unlined, four patch pockets, corozo buttons. It arrives stiff, stays that way a month, then takes the shape of whoever wears it. Rewax at home with the tin included, or send it back in winter.
Three waxed cotton jackets hanging shoulder to shoulder on a timber rail in a small workshop, sewing machine and thread cones out of focus behind, warm work light, wide framing, no people, no text, no signage
A close view of a stitched patch pocket and corozo button on heavy waxed cotton, raking light showing the wax sheen, no people, no text, no signage
A tin of clothing wax open on a workbench with a cloth and a heat gun beside it, warm workshop light, no people, no text, no signage
The promise
Thirty days to send an unworn jacket back for a full refund, tag on, no reason needed. That sits on top of your consumer guarantees, which never expire in thirty days and cover a fault whenever it shows up.

How Drop 04 runs
Why it matters
  • 120 jackets exist. There is no warehouse behind the shop.
  • The queue and the website open at the same minute, from the same stock count.
  • Sold out means sold out. We do not advertise a restock we have not bought cloth for.
  • Every jacket is numbered inside the placket, one to 120.
01
Step 1, in the queue on Warner Street
  • Doors at 10am Saturday 14 November. The line forms on the footpath from 8am.
  • Two per person, sizes 1 to 5, tried on in store.
  • Card or cash, receipt printed on the spot.
02
Step 2, online at the same minute
  • The page unlocks at 10am AEST, not a minute earlier.
  • Two per account and card. Extra orders are refunded.
  • Posted Monday, tracked, three to seven days.
Sizes 1 to 5, $340. Numbered inside the placket.
A phone propped against a tin of clothing wax on a workbench, its screen dark and reflecting the workshop lamp, folded waxed cotton beside it, warm light, wide framing, no people, no text, no signage

How the drop runs

What makes these work

The poster is one object and one number

A jacket on a bare rail, drop 04, 120 made. No model, no lifestyle, no second product competing for the eye. When the whole proposition is that there are 120 of something, the design that survives is the one that shows the something and counts it.

The lookbook explains why the number is 120

One roll of cloth yields about 120 jackets in this pattern. That sentence turns an arbitrary scarcity claim into a manufacturing fact, and it is followed immediately by the admission that no restock in the same cloth is coming, which is the part most drop marketing leaves out.

The rules page makes the queue and the website equal

Both open at 10am from the same stock count, both hold to two per person, and both cancel and refund the resale orders. Printing that stops the footpath queue believing the site got first pick and stops the site believing the queue did.

Questions people ask

Is it legal to advertise a product with very limited stock?

It is, provided the shortage is disclosed. Advertising a price on goods that are unavailable or available only in very limited quantities is misleading, but the ACCC is explicit that it is not misleading where the business is upfront and clear that the product is in short supply or on sale for a limited time. Naming the run size on the poster is the cleanest possible disclosure.

Does a thirty day returns promise replace consumer guarantees?

No, and the lookbook says so. A change of mind window is a voluntary policy that sits on top of the guarantees, which cover faults for a period based on what is reasonable for the product rather than a number a seller picks. A jacket that fails in month four is a guarantee matter even though the thirty days have long gone.

Can a seller cancel resale orders?

A per person limit has to be stated before the sale, applied consistently, and refunded in full when an order breaches it. These flyers put the limit on the poster, the lookbook and the rules page so nobody can say it appeared at checkout, and they promise a full refund rather than store credit. The same goes for the queue: two per person in the shop, checked at the counter rather than argued about at the door, and the same number online so neither channel is quietly favoured over the other.
