Quillara Therapeutics Series A
Biotech pitch deck example, pipeline to runway
A life sciences investor decides on three things before they decide on the science: which asset is funded, what the data actually showed, and how long the money lasts. Quillara Therapeutics is invented, and its eleven slides answer those three in that order rather than opening on a market size.
Every slide, in order
The whole deck as it renders, one slide after another. Read it the way the audience would.
The structure
What each slide is doing, so you can reuse the order even with different content.
- Slide 1cover
- Name the company, the programme and the one readout the round buys.
- Slide 2intro
- Why a fibrosis company can be funded now, stated from the biology rather than the market.
- Slide 3pillars
- The three things Quillara owns, each tied to a piece of evidence rather than a claim.
- Slide 4framework
- The pipeline by phase, so an investor can see what the round funds and what it does not.
- Slide 5comparison
- Standard of care against the lead compound in the same model, measure by measure.
- Slide 6metrics
- The Phase 1 safety and exposure table, because the Phase 2 dose has to be defended.
- Slide 7timeline
- The 30 months the round buys, drawn as bars so the overlap between trial and manufacturing is visible.
- Slide 8metrics
- Cash, runway and protection in three numbers, so the ask is read against what is already in the bank.
- Slide 9content
- Who runs the trial and who checks the science, listed as named roles rather than logos.
- Slide 10investment
- The ask split three ways, each share tied to something in the timeline rather than a department.
- Slide 11closing
- Close on the one date that matters and the two people who answer for it.
Slide by slide
Slide one names the company and the readout the round buys. Slide two argues why now from the biology, with three supporting facts. Slide three is the three things the company owns, each tied to a piece of evidence. Slide four is the pipeline, one asset per phase plus the shared chemistry row. Slide five compares standard of care with the lead compound on six measures in the same model. Slide six is the Phase 1 safety and exposure table across placebo and three doses. Slide seven is the 30 month Gantt from IND filing to topline. Slide eight is cash, runway and patents in three numbers. Slide nine lists who does the work inside and around the company. Slide ten splits the 14 million three ways. Slide eleven closes on the readout date and the data room.
How to adapt this deck
A single asset company cuts slide four to one row and gives the space back to the data, which is the right trade when there is nothing else in the portfolio to fund. A platform company reverses the emphasis: the chemistry row becomes its own slide and the three assets become evidence that the platform repeats. A company raising against a clinical readout rather than towards one swaps the Gantt for the readout itself and moves the cash slide to second, because at that point runway is the question and the timeline is history.
What this audience asks for
The United States regulator sets out what an investigational new drug application has to contain before a first human dose, and its clinical research pages describe how the phases are meant to be sequenced. Those two documents are the reason a pipeline slide is organised by phase at all, and why a deck that blurs preclinical and Phase 1 is read as evasive. Accelerator guidance on deck design adds the other half: keep one idea per slide and let the numbers carry the argument, rather than writing the argument out and leaving the numbers in an appendix.
What makes this deck work
The pipeline says what is not funded
Slide four lists three assets by phase and then says out loud that the preclinical programme gets none of this money and is not part of the ask. Most pipeline slides imply the whole portfolio is being funded. Naming the one asset the round pays for is what makes the 14 million believable.
The model data is a subtraction, not a claim
Slide five puts standard of care beside the lead compound on six measures from the same 12 week model, with 40 animals in each arm named in the footer. Fibrosis score 31 percent against 54 is the headline, and the other five rows are there so the headline cannot be read alone.
The Gantt and the ask are the same 30 months
The bars on slide seven end at a topline readout in month 30, and the ask on slide ten is sized to that readout rather than to a runway target. Sixty percent of the money is the trial those bars describe, which is why the two slides cannot drift apart.
Questions people ask
What goes in a biotech pitch deck?
Why the biology is tractable now, what the company owns that others do not, the pipeline by phase, the data that supports the lead asset, the safety picture, the development timeline, cash and runway, the team and the ask. This example uses eleven slides and spends four of them on data.
How many slides should a biotech deck be?
Ten to twelve for a first meeting. This one is eleven. The appendix carries the protocol, the full toxicology package and the patent grants, because a specialist will ask for those and a generalist partner will not read them in the room.
Where does the pipeline slide go?
Early, usually third or fourth, and before any market sizing. An investor needs to know which asset they are being asked to fund before they can judge anything else. Putting it after the market slide makes the whole deck read as a platform pitch rather than an asset pitch.
Should preclinical data be in the main deck?
Yes, if the lead asset rests on it, and with the arm sizes and the model named. This example puts 40 animals per arm and a 12 week model in the footer of slide five. Data without a method line is treated as marketing by anybody who reads it properly.
How do you show runway without looking desperate?
State the cash, the burn and the months plainly on one slide, as this deck does with 3.1 million dollars at 140,000 a month. Investors work the number out anyway. A company that reports it first is describing a plan, and one that hides it is answering a question later.
Do I need a Gantt chart in a biotech deck?
Only if the overlap matters. Here the manufacturing package runs alongside the trial, and that overlap is what keeps the programme to 30 months, so the bars earn their slide. A list of five dates would say less. The Gantt in this builder holds up to 12 tasks and carries no dependency arrows.

Wellness marketplace pitch deck with liquidity on both sides
A wellness marketplace pitch deck has to prove liquidity: that clients find a practitioner fast and practitioners fill their hours, in the same cities at the same time. Hushlane, an invented therapist booking marketplace, shows 71,000 sessions in a year, a two day wait to a first session and hours filled city by city.
HRtech pitch deck example built around retention numbers
An HR software buyer is measured on one number every quarter, and a deck that does not move it is a deck about features. Tenure is invented, and its eleven slides are organised around 90 day attrition, with the buyer described before any of the metrics appear.
Gaming studio pitch deck for a publisher meeting
A publisher is not buying a game idea, they are buying a team that finishes on time and an advance they can get back. Tidelamp Studio is invented, and its ten slides lead on wishlists, prove delivery with two shipped titles and end on a recoup schedule rather than a valuation.
