Roofing quote
Roofing quote example for a tile roof restoration
A roofing quote should price the safety set up, count the repairs, and measure the coating by area, so the owner can see what each part of the job costs. This example from a Melbourne roofer restores a 185 square metre concrete tile roof for $8,062 including GST, with new gutters and gutter guard as options.

What a roofing quote needs to show
Roof restorations attract more distrust than most trades, because the owner cannot see the work and door knocking operators have given the industry a reputation. A quote wins trust by being specific. This one gives the date of the inspection, the counts and measures from the roof, a price for each kind of work, and photos of every repaired area at the end. It also prices safety as a line, which shows the roofer works to the rules rather than around them. Falls from roofs remain one of the most common causes of serious injury in construction, and an owner who sees edge protection in the quote knows it will be on site.
How the price adds up
Edge protection is $980 and cleaning $650. Eighteen tiles at $22 is $396, 42 metres of ridge at $38 is $1,596, and 185 square metres of coating at $24 is $4,440, a total of $8,062 including GST. New gutters for 34 metres at $68 add $2,312 and gutter guard at $26 adds $884; with both the total is $11,258. The 20% deposit books the scaffold and the dates, and the balance is invoiced when the roof is finished. Because the tile count may rise once the roof is clean, the note fixes the price of each extra tile now.
How to adapt this quote
Count and measure on the roof and put the numbers in the quantity column with the date of the inspection. Price safety equipment as its own line. Give a unit price for anything that may grow, such as broken tiles, and say how you will tell the owner before doing more. Make warranties specific to each part of the work. Check whether any part of the job, such as gutter or flashing replacement, is roof plumbing that needs a licensed plumber in your state, and say who does it.
What makes this quote work
Safety is a priced line
Scaffold edge protection is the first line at $980 and is up for the whole job. A quote that leaves it out is either cutting a corner or adding it later, and Victorian guidance expects physical edge protection on roofing work wherever reasonably practicable.
Repairs are counted, not guessed
18 tiles at $22, 42 metres of ridge at $38 and 185 square metres of coating at $24, all counted on the roof on 7 October. The note says extra cracked tiles are replaced at the same price after the owner sees photos.
Warranties are specific
Clause 3 guarantees the coating for 10 years against peeling and the ridge work for 7. Owners compare roofers on warranties; specific terms, with before and after photos promised in the inclusions, are easier to trust than a vague lifetime claim.
Questions people ask
What should a roofing quote include?
The date of inspection, the roof area and counts of repairs, safety set up, cleaning, each repair priced by tile or metre, the coating system and coats, how extra repairs are priced, optional extras such as gutters, GST, deposit and balance, weather terms, warranties and validity. This example covers each on three A4 pages.
How much does a roof restoration cost?
It depends on the size, the tile type and the repairs. This example quotes $8,062 including GST for a 185 square metre concrete tile roof: edge protection, cleaning, 18 tiles, 42 metres of ridge rebedding and repointing, and a primer with two coats at $24 a square metre.
Why is scaffolding on a roofing quote?
Because working on a roof without edge protection risks a serious fall, and Victorian guidance expects physical edge protection for roofing work where reasonably practicable. This quote prices perimeter scaffold at $980 and keeps it up for the whole job, so the owner can see it has been allowed for.
What if the roofer finds more broken tiles?
It is common once the roof is clean. This quote fixes the price at $22 for each extra tile and promises photos before replacing any, so the owner approves the extra cost. Without a unit price, extra repairs become an argument on the last day.
How long should a roof coating last?
It depends on the product and the preparation. This quote guarantees the coating for 10 years against peeling and the ridge rebedding and repointing for 7 years. Ask any roofer for the warranty in writing, for each part of the work, before accepting the quote.

Plumbing quote example for a hot water system replacement
A plumbing quote should separate the product from the labour, say what is removed and what certificate is issued, and tell the customer how long they will be without water. This example from a Central Coast plumber replaces a failed electric storage unit with a 270 litre heat pump for $4,640 including GST, with two small extras the customer can add.
Renovation quote example for a laundry
A renovation quote should price each trade, state any allowances for things the owner still has to choose, and say what contract follows. This example from a Leichhardt builder prices a full laundry renovation at $14,780 including GST, with tiles to an allowance, a 10% deposit, and a note that a written contract follows before work starts.
Electrical quote example for a switchboard upgrade
An electrical quote should name the work, price parts and labour by line, and say what certificate the customer receives. This example from a Geelong electrician replaces a ceramic fuse board with a new switchboard and eight safety switches for $2,820 including GST, with LED downlights and interconnected smoke alarms as options.
