Offer of employment, Data Analyst
Job offer letter
An offer of $98,000 plus $11,760 of superannuation, with the three checks it depends on and a clear instruction not to resign until they clear. The letter also names what is not in the offer, which is the part candidates most often assume.
The document, page by page
Every page as it renders and as it prints, with nothing summarised. Read the wording before you reuse it.

What makes this document work
The package is broken into its parts
Base salary, superannuation on top, total package, then the bonus with three years of actual outcomes and the learning budget with its expiry. A candidate comparing two offers can put these side by side without asking a follow up question.
It tells the candidate not to resign yet
A warning callout says the offer stays conditional until the three checks clear, that this usually takes five business days, and that no candidate has ever been asked to resign earlier. This is the most consequential sentence in any offer letter.
What is not included is stated
No car allowance, no phone allowance, no equity, and the whole of the equipment arrangement in one line. Naming the absences is what stops a difficult conversation in week two.
Questions people ask
Is an offer letter the same as an employment contract?
No. This letter sets out the main terms so a decision can be made on them, and says plainly that the attached contract is the document that binds both parties. Signing the letter alone leaves the detailed terms unagreed.
Should an offer letter have an expiry?
Yes, and a specific one. This offer lapses at 5pm on Friday 4 September 2026 unless an extension is agreed in writing. A lapse date sets a decision point without forcing an answer on the phone.
What conditions can an offer be subject to?
Anything relevant to the role, stated up front. Here that is evidence of the right to work in Australia, two reference checks with managers the candidate reported to, and a national police check that the employer pays for because the team handles client data.
When should a candidate resign from their current job?
After the employer confirms in writing that the conditions have been met. This letter says so explicitly and gives the usual timeframe, because a resignation handed in against a conditional offer is the risk a candidate carries alone.

Employee handbook
The handbook a new starter actually reads in their first week, written for a four clinic health provider with 61 staff. Eight sections, each answering a question in under a minute: what kind of employment you are on, when you work, what leave you get, how we expect people to behave in front of patients, what you may and may not do with a patient record, the five safety rules, and how notice works when you go. It says plainly that the award and the National Employment Standards win wherever the handbook differs from them.
Casual employment agreement
A retail assistant is paid $34.00 an hour, which is a base of $27.20 plus a twenty five per cent loading. The agreement shows how every other rate is built from that base, and what the loading is paid instead of.
Internship agreement
Twelve paid weeks at $32.50 an hour, three days a week, costing the host $9,828 including superannuation. The first clause says the intern is an employee, and the second explains the narrow cases where an unpaid arrangement would be lawful.
