Image and print sizes: social, paper and screen specs
Every page in this group answers one size question with a table you can read in the first screen: the pixels, the millimetres or inches, the aspect ratio, the safe zone and the file limits the platform itself publishes. Each one links a blank PNG cut to the exact pixel size, so you can start a design at the right canvas instead of resizing later.

Social sizes change, so each page is dated
Social platforms publish their image and video specifications on their own help and ads pages, and they change them without much notice. The pages under Social take each number from the platform's own page, link it, and carry the date it was checked. Where a platform publishes only a recommendation, the page says so, and where the displayed size differs from the upload size, as it does for profile pictures and channel banners, the table shows both. The safe zone matters as much as the size: a story or a reel is 1080 by 1920 pixels, but the top and bottom of that frame sit under the app's own buttons and captions.
Print sizes come from standards, then from the printer
Paper sizes are defined by standards. ISO 216 sets the A and B series in millimetres, and the North American letter, legal and tabloid sizes are set in inches. Posters, business cards, postcards and frames follow trade conventions that differ by country, so those pages put the Australian, British and American sizes side by side. A print page converts each size to pixels at 150 and 300 DPI, because that is the question a designer has to answer before opening a canvas, and it says when bleed should be added on top.
Which sizes the editor makes, and which it does not
The flyer editor has eight canvas sizes: A4 portrait and landscape, Instagram Post and Story, Facebook Post and Cover, LinkedIn Post and the X header. The poster tab adds A0 portrait and landscape, and the video builder makes landscape 1920 by 1080 and vertical 1080 by 1920. A page about one of those sizes says so and opens the generator. Every other page says plainly that the editor does not have that size, and points to the image resizer, flyer size resizer, aspect ratio calculator, DPI calculator or social safe zone checker, which run in the browser and upload nothing.

- 1080p vs 1440p: pixels, screens and video uploads
The choice between 1080p and 1440p comes up twice: when buying a monitor and when exporting a video. The numbers are the same in both cases, but the reasons to pick one differ, because a screen is looked at all day and a video is watched once on whatever screen the viewer has.
- 1080x1350 video: the 4:5 portrait format
4:5 sits between square and full vertical. It fills most of a phone's screen in a scrolling feed without the top and bottom being covered by the app's buttons, which is why ad platforms recommend it for feed placements rather than for stories or reels.
- 18x24 poster size: cm, pixels and the 3:4 ratio
The 18x24 is the poster that fits a door, a lift lobby or a lawn sign frame. It is close to A2 in size, but its 3 to 4 shape is squarer than any A size, so the two are not interchangeable without a crop.
- 24x36 poster size: cm, pixels and the 2:3 ratio
The 24x36 is the poster on a dorm wall, a shop window or a conference board in the United States. Its proportion is not an ISO one, so artwork made for A1 or A0 never quite fits it, and that mismatch is the source of most problems.
- 4x3 resolution: 4:3 slide and screen sizes in pixels
4:3 was the shape of almost every screen until widescreen took over, and it survives in older projectors, iPads, many cameras and some classroom decks. Knowing its pixel sizes helps when a venue still asks for a standard slide or when images need to fit a squarer frame.
- 8K resolution and 2K in pixels: 7680 x 4320 and more
The K numbers describe roughly how many thousand pixels a picture is across, which is why they are both handy and confusing. 8K is now a fixed broadcast standard, but 2K still means two different sizes depending on who is selling it.
- A0 size in pixels at 72, 150 and 300 DPI
Pixels have no physical size until a resolution is chosen, so A0 in pixels is a table, not a single number. The useful question is which row of that table a poster actually needs, and the answer is almost never the biggest one.
- A4 size in pixels at 300 DPI, 150 DPI and 72 DPI
The same A4 page can be 595 pixels wide or 2480 pixels wide, and both are correct; the DPI decides which. Choosing it is a question of where the page ends up, a print shop, an office printer or a screen, not of which number is best.
- App Store screenshot sizes: iPhone, iPad and Google Play
Store screenshots are the first thing people see of an app before they install it, and both stores reject uploads at the wrong size. The sizes follow the devices, so they change as new phones come out, and the checklist is worth rechecking before every release.
- B paper sizes: B0 to B10 in mm, inches and pixels
The B series fills the gaps the A series leaves. Posters, books, passports and envelopes that must hold an A sized sheet all lean on it, and the one trap is that Japan uses a B series of its own with the same names and different numbers.
- Desktop wallpaper size: common screen resolutions
A desktop wallpaper sits behind every window for months, so it should be sharp at the screen's real resolution and calm where icons and windows go. The awkward part is that laptops and monitors no longer share one shape.
- Discord banner size: profile and server banners in pixels
Discord has two banners: one at the top of a server's channel list, unlocked by boosting, and one across the top of a member's profile, unlocked by Nitro. Neither size is published in plain text by Discord, so the guides are the working reference.
- Email header size: 600 pixels wide, and why
Email has no platform specification to look up, because every inbox renders HTML its own way. The 600 pixel width is a convention that survives Outlook, Gmail and phones, and the header follows it.
- Email signature banner size: width, height and weight
A signature banner travels on every email someone sends, often hundreds a week, so it has to be small in two ways: short enough not to dominate the message and light enough not to bloat it.
- Etsy banner size: shop banner dimensions in pixels
An Etsy shop has one banner slot and two banner styles: a big banner with room for a photo, or a mini banner that is little more than a coloured strip with the shop name. Which one to use depends on how much the shop's products need an introduction.
- Facebook ad size: feed, Stories and Reels in pixels
A Facebook ad is not one size but one image per placement, and Meta's ads guide is the only place the numbers are kept current. Designing one 4:5 feed image and one 9:16 vertical image covers almost every placement Meta offers.
- Facebook event cover photo size: 1920 x 1005
An event cover is not the same image as a Page cover. It is wider than a 16:9 photo, it sits above the event's date and title on a phone, and it is reused when the event is shared, so a design made for a Page cover rarely fits.
- Facebook profile picture size: upload and display
On a business Page the profile picture appears far more often than the cover: beside every post, every reply and every ad. It is shown tiny, so its job is recognition, not information.
- Google Business Profile photo size: 720 x 720
Photos on a Google Business Profile are seen in Maps and search before anyone visits a website. Google's own requirements are short, and the quality notes matter as much as the pixel size.
- Google display ad sizes: the top banner sizes in pixels
Display advertising still runs on a handful of fixed banner sizes that publishers build their pages around. Google's help page names the ones worth making, and a small set covers most of the inventory.
- Instagram ad size: feed, Story and Reels ads in pixels
Instagram ads run in three main places, the feed, Stories and Reels, and each has its own frame and text limit. Two images, one portrait and one vertical, cover all three.
- Instagram carousel size: 1080 x 1350 or 1080 x 1080
A carousel is several images that share one frame, so the size decision is made once for the whole set. Portrait 4:5 takes the most room in the feed; square is easier to reuse elsewhere.
- Instagram profile picture size: 320 x 320 pixels
The profile picture is the smallest image on Instagram and the one shown most often, beside every post, story ring and comment. Its size is easy; its shape is what catches people out, because a square goes in and a circle comes out.
- Instagram Reel size: 1080 x 1920 and the grid crop
A Reel is seen in two places with two shapes: full screen in the Reels feed and cropped on the profile grid. The size question is really about designing one frame that survives both, plus the band at the bottom where Instagram writes the caption.
- LinkedIn ad size: single image 1200 x 628 and more
LinkedIn runs most sponsored content as a single image above a headline, in a feed read on desktops more than on any other social network. Its specification page gives a recommended, minimum and maximum size for each shape.
- LinkedIn banner size: 1584 x 396 pixels
People call two different images the LinkedIn banner. The personal background photo sits behind a person's profile picture; the company cover sits at the top of a Page. They have different shapes, and a design made for one does not fit the other.
- LinkedIn company logo size: 400 x 400 pixels
A company logo on LinkedIn is shown at a few dozen pixels in most places, so the version that works there is usually simpler than the logo on the website. The specification is small; the design decision is what to leave out.
- Phone wallpaper size: iPhone and Android in pixels
Phone screens are tall and narrow, about 9 to 19.5, and every model has its own resolution. A wallpaper made at the right size fills the screen without the system cropping or zooming it, and it leaves the clock and widgets readable.
- Photo print sizes: 6x4, 7x5, 8x10 and the pixels needed
Photo sizes come from film and darkroom paper, which is why they are in inches even in metric countries. The catch is that most of them do not share the shape of the camera's image, so the real question is how much of each photo gets cropped.
- Pinterest pin size: 1000 x 1500 pixels
Pinterest is a vertical feed, so the pin that fills the most of a column without being trimmed wins the space. That shape is 2:3, and almost every sizing mistake on the platform comes from ignoring it.
- Poster frame sizes: standard sizes in cm and inches
A frame is chosen once and lives on the wall for years, so getting the poster size and the frame size to agree saves a reprint. The trick is knowing which frame sizes are made for A series paper and which are made for inch sizes or photos.
- PowerPoint slide size in pixels: 16:9 at 1920 x 1080
A slide has no fixed pixel size; PowerPoint and Google Slides define it in inches and render it at whatever resolution the screen or export asks for. Picking the pixel size matters when you make images for slides, export slides as pictures or build a slide in another design tool.
- Reddit banner size: community and profile banners
Reddit's banner rules live in moderator help pages that change with each redesign, and the guides quoting them disagree. A wide 5:1 or 10:3 banner with everything important in the middle survives all of them.
- Snapchat story size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
Snapchat is built around the full screen vertical frame, so the shape is never in doubt. The resolution is where sources differ: Snap's page names 720 by 1280, while size guides recommend the sharper 1080 by 1920.
- Square video size: 1080 x 1080 and where 1:1 plays
Square video was the feed default for years because it looks the same on a phone held upright or sideways. It has since been overtaken by 4:5 and 9:16 on phones, but it is still the simplest shape for a post that has to work on every network at once.
- Sticker sizes: common sticker and label dimensions
Stickers are sold by their longest side, which is why a size list looks so simple. The detail that matters is how the shape inside that box is cut, and how much white border the cutter leaves around it.
- Threads post size: image dimensions in pixels
Threads publishes far fewer specifications than Instagram, and the size guides disagree, so the useful answer is a shape that every guide accepts. Portrait 4:5 or square, at 1080 pixels wide or more, is the common ground.
- TikTok video size: 1080 x 1920, ratio and file limits
TikTok publishes its firm numbers on the advertising side, and those are the ones worth designing to, because an organic post that meets them also looks right. The frame is 9:16; everything else is about file weight and the parts of the screen the app covers.
- Twitch banner size: 1200 x 480 pixels
Twitch uses two banners that people often mix up: one along the top of the channel's About page and one that fills the video player when the channel is offline. They have different shapes, and the offline one is seen far more.
- Twitter post size: X image dimensions in pixels
X shows images in the timeline at whatever shape they are uploaded within limits, then crops previews when several images share one post. A single image is forgiving; a set of two to four needs planning.
- Twitter profile picture size: 400 x 400 pixels
The profile picture is the mark that sits beside every post and reply an account makes on X. It is shown at tiny sizes, so it needs to be recognisable as a circle a few dozen pixels across.
- What are standard brochure sizes? Flat and folded
A brochure is a flat sheet that becomes a small booklet when folded, so it always has two sizes: the sheet the printer runs and the panel the reader holds. Choosing the sheet first and the fold second keeps the panels at sizes that fit racks, envelopes and hands.
- What is A3 flyer size? A3 leaflets, folds and pixels
Few people hand out a flat A3 sheet; A3 earns its place as a folded leaflet, a programme or a small newsletter. The size you design is the open sheet, but the size people first see is the folded panel, and the layout has to work for both.
- What is A4 poster size? A4 in mm, cm, inches and frames
An A4 poster is the notice on a noticeboard, the sign in a shop window and the print in a small frame on a desk. It is read from a metre or two away, so the question is less about pixels and more about how big the type and the frame need to be.
- What is A5 flyer size? A5 in mm, cm, inches and pixels
A5 is the size most venues and cafes will let you leave on a counter, because it fits a hand and a standard leaflet holder. It is also the size that most often gets designed at the wrong resolution, because people start from a screen canvas and scale it up.
- What is A6 flyer size? A6 in mm, inches and pixels
A6 is postcard territory: small enough to hand out at a door or tuck into a shopping bag, and large enough for one offer and one way to act on it. Because it is so small, every millimetre of margin matters more than on any other flyer size.
- What is business card size? AU, US and UK dimensions
Business card sizes grew from local paper and wallet conventions, so the card that looks normal in Sydney looks slightly large in New York and slightly small in London. Getting the size right decides whether it fits the card holders, sleeves and wallets of the people you hand it to.
- What is door hanger size? Standard sizes and the hole
A door hanger reaches every house on a street without a stamp, and it has to work in one glance from a doorstep. The size is tall and narrow because it hangs from a handle, and the top few centimetres belong to the hole, not to the design.
- What is legal paper size? 8.5 x 14 inches in mm and pixels
Legal is the long sheet that turns up in American contracts, court forms and diner menus. It shares a width with letter, so it feeds through the same printer trays, but its extra length catches out anyone who designs at A4 or letter and hits print.
- What is pull up banner size? Common sizes in mm and pixels
A pull up banner, also called a roll up or roller banner, is sized by the stand that holds it, not by a paper standard. Every printer publishes its own template, and the hidden strip at the base is the detail that catches people out.
- What is table tent size? Folded and flat dimensions
Table tents sell desserts, drinks, specials and Wi-Fi codes from the middle of a table. They are read sitting down, from about half a metre, and from both sides, which changes how much text fits and which way each panel faces.
- What is tabloid size? 11 x 17 inch paper explained
Tabloid is the big sheet in a North American office printer, used for spreadsheets, small posters and folded newsletters. Outside North America people usually mean A3, which is close but not the same, and the difference shows up as a white strip or a cropped edge.
- What is the standard bookmark size? Dimensions in inches and cm
A bookmark is the smallest print most businesses order and one of the few that people keep for months. Its narrow shape suits a single message read from top to bottom, and the size is chosen so it sits inside a book without poking out of the top.
- What is the standard greeting card size? Cards and envelopes
A greeting card is two sizes at once: the folded card people hold and the flat sheet the printer prints. The envelope is the third size, and it is the one that decides whether the card slides in neatly or gets bent at a corner.
- What is the standard menu size? Restaurant menu dimensions
A menu's size is decided by how many dishes it holds and where it is read: at a table, at a counter or in a takeaway bag. The common sizes come from paper stock, and each fold changes how a diner moves through the list.
- What is the standard postcard size? Dimensions and postal limits
A postcard has two jobs: look good enough to keep and stay inside the rules that let it travel at the cheapest rate. The second job is set by the postal service, not by the printer, and it differs by country.
- WhatsApp status size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
Status is WhatsApp's version of Stories: photos, videos and text shown full screen to contacts for a day. Because it is viewed upright on a phone, the right size is simply the shape of a phone screen.
- YouTube banner size and the safe area for text
The banner is the strangest image on YouTube because one upload is shown as three different crops. A TV shows the whole 16:9 frame, a computer shows a wide band, and a phone shows little more than the middle strip.
- YouTube Shorts size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
Shorts look like any vertical video, but YouTube classifies them by shape and length, and the overlay covers different edges from Reels or TikTok. Getting the size right is the easy part; keeping the message clear of the buttons is the part that decides whether it reads.
- YouTube thumbnail size: the 16:9 rule and the file limits
For years the answer was 1280 by 720 and a 2 MB cap, and many guides still say so. YouTube Help now recommends a 4K thumbnail and allows 50 MB from a desktop, while the 16:9 shape and the 640 pixel minimum have not changed.
